满分20分)

Are you looking for some new and exciting places to take your kids (孩子) to? Try some of these places:
●Visit art museums. They offer a variety of activities to excite your kids' interest. Many offer workshops
for making hand-made pieces, traveling exhibits, book signings by children's favorite writer, and even
musical performances and other arts
●Head to a natural history museum. This is where kids can discover the past from dinosaur(恐龙) models
to rock collections and pictures of stars in the sky. Also, ask what kind of workshops and educational
programs are prepared for kids and any special events that are coming up.
●Go to a Youtheater. Look for one in your area offering plays for child and family visitors. Pre-show play
shops are conducted by area artists and educators where kids can discover the secret about performing arts.
Puppet(木偶)making and stage make-up are just a couple of the special offerings you might find.
●Try hands-on science. Visit one of the many hands-on science museums around the country. These
science play-lands are great fun for kids and grown-ups alike. They'll keep your child mentally and

B
After noticing that her students had problems
focusing during the math class, a North Carolina
teacher decided to channel (引导) their energy in a
different way — cycling.
It doesn’t sound like a common thing to do during the
math class, but Bethany Lambeth, a teacher from Wake
County, says that ever since she installed (安装)
cycling machines under her students desks, the quality of
their work has improved greatly, students are more
focused, and, more importantly, they are no longer fidgeting all the time.
“In the past, they were drumming on their desks, or they were touching other people, but they don’t do that
anymore. Their feet are getting out of the movement,” she said.
“The kids are not making fun of each other and they are able to get their activities through and get their
work done,” the young educator added. “I think the world is changing a lot and the kids need to be able to do
something different.”
Lambeth installed the cycling machines at the end of last year, paying around $$ 150 for each.
Judging by the results observed by the Wake County teacher, this might be a way the educational
organization might want to look into. After learning about the success of Lambeth’s project, school officials are
particularly excited about the role cycling machines could play in Special Education classes.
The kids obviously love the new “toys”. Sofia Fedele, one of the Lambeth’s students, said cycling helps
her focus on her work during the class. “Pedaling(蹬车) is much better and it keeps me exercising and focused,”
she said.
Quinn Spear, another student in Lambeth’s class, also acknowledged the health benefits of cycling during
the class. He said that he had pedaled 5.5 miles and burned 133 calories, all before 10 a.m.
4. What does the underlined word “fidgeting” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Restless. B. Calm. C. Focused. D. Disappointed.
5. What do we know about school officials?
A. They plan to install more cycling machines in classes.
B. They think highly of what Lambeth does for her students.
C. They regard cycling machines to be new toys for students.
D. They need to look into the results of using cycling machines.
6. What’s the main idea of the text?
A. To call on schools to install more cycling machines.
B. To introduce a new way to make students focused.
C. To tell teachers how to help students improve their studies.
D. To show the advantages of cycling in class.

Suhklal lives in India. He works every day, but can only buy food, not anything else, even clothes. One day,
Suhklal heard about a non-profit (非盈利性的) organization called GOONJ. This organization does not give
away free clothes or sell clothes for money. Instead, GOONJ asks people to work to help the community. In
return, GOONJ supplies people with clothes. Suhklal said the experience made him happy. He felt proud of his
work and his new clothes.
In 1998, Anshu Gupta and his wife wanted to help the people affected by a crisis (危机), so they gathered
all the clothes they had not worn. Looking at their gathered clothing, they wanted to start a new clothing
organization. But they wanted their organization to be different from others. They wanted to collect clothing all
year round — not just in times of crisis. And more importantly, they wanted to serve people in a way that made
them feel proud when receiving clothes.
GOONJ makes sure the clothing is given to people who can use it. For example, people in areas with cooler
temperatures receive warmer clothes. And people in villages that wear traditional clothing would receive
traditional clothing. GOONJ also reuses clothes that people can’t wear. For example, a shirt with holes can be
made into a bag or used to make a blanket.
GOONJ helps organize projects that improve the community. People receive clothes in return for their
community work. Gupta believes this helps the receivers build self-respect, because they have earned the clothes.
It also helps the receivers to be proud of what they have done to help their community.
Since it began, GOONJ has expanded its work. GOONJ also collects more than just clothes. It collects
home or school supplies. GOONJ also started a program that helps protect women’s health.
7. Suhklal’s example is mentioned to show________.
A. Indians can get free clothes from GOONJ
B. There are many non-profit organizations in India
C. Some Indians are too poor to support themselves
D. Suhklal thinks highly of what GOONJ does for him
8. Why did Anshu Gupta and his wife set up GOONJ?
A. To help those in need to earn their clothing with self-respect.

store
后加
to

第二处:
store
在上文已经出现一次,此处表 示特指,故把
a
改为
the

第三处:
happen to
不能用于被动语态,故把
were
去掉。

第四处:此处为宾语 从句,关系词作
buy
的宾语,故把
that
改为
what

第五处:
I

see
之间是逻辑上的主谓关系,表示主 动,用现在分词作伴随状语,故把
Saw
改为
Seeing

第六处:
with one’s help
表示

在某人的帮助下< br>”
,故把
In
改为
With

第七处:此 处是说对我表示感谢,作介词
to
的宾语,故把
her
改为
me

that day
判断此处用一般过去时,故把
am
改为
was

< br>第九处:
others
表示

其他人

o ther

其他的

,故把
other
改为< br>others
第十处:由
than
可知此处用比较级形式,故把
ha rd
