psychologist who has not seen the study.“Everyone knows famous people are really in love with
themselves,”he said.“So it would be natural for narcissists to be attracted toward the stage and
spotlight, where other people will also think highly of them.”
Pinsky, an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at USC’S Keck School of Medicine, said
narcissists desire attention, are overconfident, behave strangely and lack sympathy.“However,

One of the greatest sources of unhappiness,in my experience,is the difficulty we have in
accepting things as they are.
When we see something we don’t like,we wish it could be different. We cry out for
something better. That may be human nature,or perhaps it’s something ingrained(根深蒂固的
in our culture. The root of the unhappiness isn’t necessarily that we want things to be

rather than saying,
’s that we decided we didn
“It's not bad or good, and it just is it.”
’t like it in the first place. We’ve judged it as bad,
In one of my books,I said“You should expect people to mess up and expect things to go
differently than you planned”.Some readers said it's too sorrowful to expect things to go
wrong. However, it’s only negative if you see it as negative and judge it as bad.Instead, you could
.accept it as the way the world works and try to understand why that is
This can be applied to whatever you do:how other people act at work, how politics works
and how depressing the news media can be.Accept these things as they are,and try to
understand why they’re that way.It will save you a lot of sadness, because you’ll no longer say,
“Oh.1 wish bad things didn’t happen!’’
Does it mean you can never change things? Not at a11.But change things not because you
can’t accept things as they are,but because you enjoy the process of changing, learning and
growing.
Can we make this world a better place? You can say that you’11 continue to try to do things
to help others,to grow as a person,to make a difference in this world. That’s the correct path
you choose to take, because you enjoy that path. Therefore, when you find yourself judging and
wishing for difference, try a different approach:accept, and understand. It might lead to some
interesting results.

With the development of society, the choice of food and drinks for children is more diversified than
ever before. However, every coin has two sides. Many facts suggest that children are overweight
and the situation is getting worse, according to the statistics. I feel there are a number of reasons
for this.
Some people blame the fact that we are surrounded by shops selling unhealthy, fatty foods, such as
fried chicken and ice cream, at low prices. This has turned out a whole generation of grown-ups
who seldom cook a meal for themselves. If there were fewer of these restaurants then probably
children would buy less take-away food.
There is another argument that blames parents for allowing their children to become overweight. I
agree to this, because good eating habits begin early in life, long before children start to visit fast
food shops. If children are given fried chicken and chocolate rather than healthy food, or are always
allowed to choose what they eat, they will go for sweet and salty foods every time, and this will
carry on throughout their lives.
There is a third reason for this situation. Children these days take very little exercise. They do not
walk to school. When they get home, they sit in front of the television or their computers. Not only

is this an unhealthy pastime(消遣), it also gives them time to eat more unhealthy food. What they
need is to go outside and play active games or sports.
The above are the main reasons for this problem, and therefore we have to encourage young
people to be more active, as well as guiding them away from fast food shops and bad eating habits.
50. What is suggested by the author to deal with
A. Blaming the shops selling unhealthy and fatty foods.
B. Asking young children to walk to school every day.
C. Living an active life and removing bad eating habits.
D. Not watching TV or playing computer games after school.
51. Which of the following shows the structure of the whole text?

A. show people a social problem
C. advise solutions to a problem
