The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation 英国广播公司 ) is a television and radio organization in Britain. It is famous all over the world for the quality of its English and wide varieties of programs. The BBC receives its income form both the government and the TV owners. There are no advertisements on the BBC.
The BBC has two TV channels, BBC1 presents （= broadcasts） a wide variety of programs of general interest（大众口味的）, such as comedy shows, music and dance, news, sports, quiz shows, dramas and so on. BBC2, however, has more serious programs and news reports.
The BBC has four national radio stations. Radio 1 is a pop-music station with news and magazine-style programs. Radio 2 plays light music and reports on sports. Radio 3 plays classical music, while Radio 4 has news programs, dramas （戏曲）and programs of general interest.
The World Service of the BBC broadcasts over 700 hours of programs a week in 45 languages. It produces （制作，生产）many educational programs on both TV and radio. BBC English is one of these programs to help people improve their English. It presents English lessons in both English and the language of the listeners. For example, BBC English broadcasts teaching programs for China in both English and Chinese.
