Doing Shopping Online

With the development of the Internet, shopping is no longer a tiring click your mouse to choose the articles you like, and the purchase is don’t even have to step out of the room. It seems all easy and quick.

However, people’s opinions vary on this trend. Some believe that on lineshopping is time and money saving. With plentiful selection options, they canbuy whatever they like at any time convenient. Still others insist thatmis-purchasing alone is annoying enough, not to mention the credibility of thesellers and the safety of their accounts.

In my opinion, the convenience and excitement of on line shopping is beyondall doubts. In the meantime, we must always bear in mind that certain traps doexist, so we’d better make sure the sellers are trustworthy before buying. Inaddition, we should also guard ourselves from the potential hackers who mightsteal our account information.

但是,以“With the development of the Internet”为开首语,有些落入俗套,有硬套模板的嫌疑。稍加注意,应该能写出更好的句子。

2. 微观语言点方面,有些语句稍显啰嗦,比如With plentiful selection options… 简化成With plentiful selections… 更好,意思没有丝毫减损,表达力反而增强许多;

Nowadays, can we find a person who has not experienced online shopping?Definitely not. Online shopping is coming into fashion in most of cities dueto the rapid development of internet technology.

Online shopping is welcomed by most people due to various reasons. Fromthe perspective of consumer, it can save some time for people who don’t have much spare time. Just click the mouse, they can get whatever they want whilestaying at home. For the retailers, it can cut some costs for those who don’thave much circulating funds. They don’t have to rent a house and spend moneyon employees compared with the traditional trade mode. However, there are stillsome defects in online shopping. First, face to face deal makes online shoppingless reliable and trustworthy. Second, people will lose the fun of bargain.

It is undeniable that shopping on the internet has become an irresistibletrend in modern society. It’s of great urgency that we need to regulate therelative laws in accordance with the rapid growth of online shopping. Only inthis way can we enjoy
the pleasure and convenience of online shopping withoutthe concern of being treated.

按照四级作文的要求,考生在第一段时应该总述现象并引出话题;

第二段考生应当从正反两方面来论述网购,分别铺陈其优缺点;关于优点,网购的优点很多,考生可择其最突出显著的方面来阐述,比如说网购可以节省很多时间;网购可以节省很多成本开支等;其次,缺点方面考生可以把重心放在诚信方面;为了不至于跟优点相比,缺点方面太轻,考生可以考虑稍微提一下其他缺点,比如说与传统购物相比,网购少去了很多砍价的乐趣;

Online shopping has been a boon to many industries and companieslooking toexpand their markets. Also, it’s convenient for shoppers who are too busy toleave the house. However, in some cases nothing can replace a true face to faceshopping experience.

Internet shopping is convenient for the mothers who spend all day doing housechores and for the fathers who work a full-time job. On the other hand, thereare limits to shopping online, for example: guessing the correct size of clothingon a computer screen can be very frustrating.

For the busy mother and father, online shopping is a very useful and convenienttool. But, there are instances, like clothes shopping, where nothing beats the realthing.

The new scientific discovery came after a trip to Belize.

“We kicked over a log and the fish just came crowding out,” Taylor told Reuters in neighboring Guatemala by telephone. He said he will make his study on the fish known to the public in an American magazine early next year.

In lab tests, Taylor said he found the fish can live up to 66 days out of water without eating.

Some other fish can live out of water for a short period of time. The walking catfish found in Southeast Asia can stay on land for hours at a time, while lungfish found in Australia, Africa and South America can live out of water, but only in an inactive state. But no other known fish can be out of water as long as the Mangrove Rivulus and remain active, according to Patricia Wright, a biologist at C
anada’s University of Guelph.

Further studies of the fish may tell how animals changed over time.

“These animals live in conditions similar to those that existed millions of years ago, when animals began making the transition(过渡)form water onto land, ” Wright said.

49. The Mangrove Rivulus is a type of fish that ______.
A. likes eating nuts

B. Researchers in Guatemala.
C. Scientists from Belize.

A. breathe through its skin
B. move freely on dry land
C. remain alive out of water
D. be as active on land as in water

52. What can we say about the discovery of Mangrove Rivulus?
A. It was made quite by accident.
B. It was based on a lab test of sea life.
C. It was supported by an American magazine.
D. It was helped by Patricia Wright.

The American newspaper has been around for about three hundred years. In 1721, the printer James Franklin, Benjamin’s older brother, started the New England Courant, and that was what we might recognize today as a real newspaper. He filled his paper with stories of adventure, articles on art, on famous people, and on all sorts of political subjects.

Three centuries after the appearance of Franklin’s Courant, few believe that newspapers in their present printed from will remain alive for long. Newspaper companies are losing advertisers(广告商),readers, market value, and in some cases, their sense of purpose at a speed that would not have been imaginable just several years ago. The chief editor(主编) of the Times said recently, “At places where they gather, editors ask one another, ‘How are you?’, as if they have just come out of the hospital or a lost law case.” An article about the newspaper appeared on the website of the Guandian, under the headline “NOT DEAD YET.”

Perhaps not, but the rise of the Internet, which has made the daily newspaper look slow and out of step with the world, has brought about a real sense of death. Some American newspapers have lost 42% of their market value in the past three years. The New York Times Company has seen its stock(股票) drop by 54% since the end of 2004, with much of the loss coming in the past year. A manager at Deutsche Bank suggested that stock-holders sell off their Times stock. The Washington Post

Company has prevented the trouble only by changing part of its business to education; its testing and test-preparation service now brings in at least half the company’s income.

53. What can we learn about the New England Courant?
A. It is mainly about the stock market.
B. It marks the beginning of the American newspaper.
C. It remains a successful newspaper in America.
D. It carries articles by political leaders.

54. What can we infer ab
out the newspaper editors?
A. They often accept readers’ suggestions.
B. They care a lot about each other’s health.
C. They stop doing business with advertisers.
D. They face great difficulties in their business.

55. Which of the following found a new way for its development?
A. The Washington Post.
B. The Guardian.
C. The New York Times.
D. New England Courant.

56. How does the author seem to feel about the future of newspapers?
A. Satisfied.
B. Hopeful.
C. Worried.
D. Surprised.

Thank you for your letter asking about the rebuilt Oianmen Street. Here is something about it.
Qianmen Street is a famous street of over 600 years old. Along this 800-meter street, there are more than 300 shops. As the street is in the center of Beijing, just to the south of Tian’anmen Square, it’s very convenient to get there by bus. You may take Buses No. 17, 69 or 59. Subway Line 2 has a stop there too. Qianmen Street is a pedestrian street, but there are trolley cars to take you not only to the shops, but also to theatres and teahouses where you can experience a truly Chinese way of life. I’m sure you’ll like it.
Yours,
Li Hua
