③ Starting a project④ Forming groups to make public more aware
possible version:
Student Union,
National Aid to the Disabled Day is the day for us to do something for disabled people who are still one of the special groups that need help most in society. As this special day is around the corner, I am writing to ask you to consider the following things.
① Go on diet for one day. It seemed not proper for us to have a lot of food, while quite a lot of disabled people lead a poor life in our city. We should give up all the junk food to
raise money to help the disabled.
② Pay a visit to the disabled. As we know the disabled may feel helpless and frustrated sometimes. If we can pay them a visit, we can make them feel the warmth of our big social family. We can take some small gifts and help them with the housework when we
visit them.
③ Have fund-raising activities on City Square. Many disabled people have difficulty in making money, so we should think of ways to collect money to help them. It is good idea to organize different kinds of activities on the City Square to collect some money. The activities may include selling our secondhand books, holding dancing or singing parties and so on. We can invite some disabled people to join us.
④ Organize one-yuan donation activities in school. We students still depend on our parents for money, but we can persuade every student to donate one yuan to help the disabled. Though one yuan is a small amount, it can improve our awareness in doing charity work through our involvement.
⑤ Hold special class meetings. While there may be better ways to help the disabled, we should also put ourselves in their shoes and think about how life is like for the disabled. Through class meetings, we can discuss the difficulty the disabled might face and the measures we and the society can take to help them.
Thank you for reading my letter. I hope you will consider my suggesti
ons. Disable people need help, so on this special day we should do something to show that we are concerned about them and make more people know their problems.
Yours Sincerely,
Your Name

possible versions:
Possible version 1:
My pet robot
I9蒺d like to tell you something about my pet robot. It was my own invention and I call him Rex. He looks like a human being with a round head, two black eyes, two arms and two legs. He may look more like an alien from outer space. His body is made of a special material that can protect him from water and fire. This material can also help him get energy from the sunshine. His surface feels soft and warm, just like our skin. With artificial intelligence, he can choose the colour of his surface. When he is happy, he may turn red. He will be gray if he is sad. What9蒺s more, he can do everything that human beings can do, such as talking, walking, doing housework, playing musical instruments and so on.
Last week, we had a music class. A tall boy started to play tricks on me after class. He laughed at me because I couldn9蒺t play the trumpet well. He even said I didn9蒺t have a well-developed lung. Rex came to help me immediately. He invited the boy to compete with him to see who can play better. As Rex can play the trumpet well because of his excellent fingers, he beat the boy easily. I felt really happy seeing the boy apologizing to me in face of my friends and my pet robot. I felt proud of Rex. I am beginning to wish that I have the same ability as Rex and can do everything well.
Possible version 2:
My pet robot
This is a picture of my pet robot, Pipi. She looks like a human being and is as tall as me. She can do many things, such as washing, singing, dancing, talking and so on. Sometimes we go shopping together and sometimes we watch TV together. But she likes playing music for me best. She can play really well as she can move her arms and hands flexibly. In my opinion, every piece of music she plays is perfect.
Last week, we went to the kinder
garten in our neighbourhood to celebrate the International Children9蒺s Day. Pipi used her instrument to play “Twinkle, twinkle, little star”. She played so wonderfully that nearly all of us lost ourselves in her beautiful music. The children got really excited at the performance of my pet robot. They couldn9蒺t help singing the songs together to the excellent music. Everybody had a great time.

What will life be like without animals?
There is no denying that animals are part of our life, not only because they are our close friends, but also because their existence, especially those rare animals, makes our world more colourful and lively.
However, rare animals, even those protected in zoos, are being endangered. Recently, I9蒺m greatly shocked to learn about the latest news that an increasing number of rare animals are hurt.
So it9蒺s high time for us to take immediate action to publicize the importance of protecting rare animals. And it9蒺s our responsibility to prevent the rare animals from being hurt and extinguishing.
Only by taking effective measures can human beings and animals live a harmonious life and rare animals be protected.

Signs of hope for Liberia
Du Lei worked as a UN peacekeeper in Liberia from 2004 to 2005. His job was to help the Liberian police rebuild their force in the war9鄄torn country. After months of work, Du helped the station train younger staff and rebuild its systems as part of the international effort. However, life was not easy in Liberia, where the war had damaged the economy and the city. Du9蒺s flat only had four hours of electricity at night. Meanwhile, in such a state of affairs, many young people can9蒺t get a normal education. So, Du used his savings to support one Liberian child. Du and his Chinese co9鄄workers also donated stationery and medicine to schools and orphanages.
The local people get on quite well with Chinese because they think China is here to give them real support.

... As Chart 1 shows, high school students are from different family backgrounds, which makes up 91% local students, 8% children of non9鄄local workers and 1% foreign students. Chart 2 tells us that students after graduation have a wider variety of choices. 60% of them intend to go to universities. 30% choose to enter vocational schools, and 10% plan to go abroad for further studies.
With the development of our city, going to college is no longer the only choice for most of us and our city government has helped the children of non9鄄local workers enjoy the equal rights of a good education with city students and more children of foreign investors in China are sent to local schools to learn about China and the Chinese culture.
I believe the future of the education in our city is promising!

Several days ago three lions ran out of a zoo, because the keeper was careless in his work. Two of the lions ran to the nearby hills and they were caught by the workers of the zoo. The third one went into town and when it saw an open window on the first floor of a house, it jumped in. Inside, it found an old woman. There was something wrong with the woman9蒺s eyes. She thought the animal was a large dog and she placed her hand on its
head.
The wild animal paid no attention to her and went into the bedroom. It fell asleep on some old clothes. It was there that the workers of the zoo found the lion. So they put the lion in a cage and carried it back to the zoo quickly.
