Animal words
not only reflect the different social culture, but
also
reflect different nationalities’ many
similarities and differences between
ethnic
groups. Through the animal words cultural value
researching, not
only can avoid communicative
language mistakes , but also can improve
our
foreign language teaching . Comparison of
different culture and
different culture free
import, they can spread and carry forward the
Chinese culture has important value.
According to Bai Yang and Luo Huazhen’s
articles, the theme is
the cultural difference
that reflected by the difference of animal words,
there are two major contents. On the one hand
is the difference of animal
words that
reflected by cultural difference between Chinese
and western
culture, and those differences
come from three aspects. One is the same
animal word represents the same culture,
another is the same animal word
represents
different cultures, the last but not the least is
different animal
words represent the same
culture. The two writers use many examples to
expound those aspects, convince readers to
understand the cultural
differences that
reflected by animal words. At the same time, let
readers
to understand the importance of
cultural difference and how to avoid
the
embarrassing situation when cultural difference
happen. On the other
hand, explain the reasons
why cultural differences exist. Those cultural
differences are the results of the differences
of living condition, social
environment, religious faith, cultural
value and custom.
Chinese and western cultural
differences caused the great
difference
between English and Chinese language this
make students take the words too literally,
even make a joke, it is called
culture shock .
Therefore , not only input language to students
,but also
input the survival culture to
students . In order to reduce the lack of
national cultural background knowledge ,
students should understand the
accuracy of the
target language , and take effective cross-
cultural
activity .
