Thanksgiving Day is one of the most important family holiday
in America. All the members of a family, no matter where far away
they are, will try to get together on that day. The first
Thanksgiving in America takes place in October, 1621. In 1620, the
group of Englishmen sailed to Massachusetts. They had expected to
find a freely place to live in, so they experienced a hard winter.
Half of them starved death. The next spring, we began farming. With
the help of local Indians, they learned to be plant corn and raise
animals. In the autumn, the fields produced a good harvest. Filling
with joy and thanks to God, they held a celebration. In 1863, it
became a national holiday.

One night, the mother and her daughter went out for dinner
together. The mother was a heavy smoker, that made her daughter feel
very upset and worrying. She would often tell her mother that smoking
was bad in her health, but her mother wouldn’t listen and refused to
stop smoking. However, during dinner that night, she noticed
that her mother didn’t have a single cigarettes. In fact, she
realized that she hadn’t seen her mother to smoke at all since the
day before.
“I see that you haven’t smoked at all today. Are you trying
to give smoking” the daughter asked hopeful.
The mother answered: “No, I’m just feeling a little bit sick
right now. I didn’t smoke cigarettes when I’m sick, because if I do,
it takes me longer to get better.”

The daughter replied, “Well, I guess you would probably live
a lot longer before you got sick a bit more often!”

During the travel back to my hometown, in the plane, I sat
next to an old lady who looked very scary. She closed her eyes tight
and grasped her red bag on her lap. I thought I might be nervous, so
I planned to chat with her to make her to feel relaxed. We talk a lot
about our families and experiences. When the flight over, I also
helped her carry her luggages. She was so grateful about my help that
she gave me the big hug when we were going to leave. On our way out,
we waved good-bye. She kept on turning back to see me unless we
couldn't see each other any long.
