Dear Sir,
I am writing in
regard to people who keep large dogs in flats. I
strongly believe that
this is a form of
cruelty to animals.
My neighbours keep a
collie. They leave for work at 8 a.m. and seldom
return before
midnight. While they are out,
the dog is shut up in a bedroom so that it will
not damage
anything in the flat. It gets no
exercise at all. In the summer, their air
conditioner(空调) is
never turned on.
Last
month, my neighbours went away for three days.
During this time, no one visited
the dog or
brought it food or water. After three days of
being all alone, this dog was
extremely hungry
and thirsty. I know this because it barked(吠叫)
more weakly each day.
Last week, I called the
Animal Shelter and they have promised to check up
on the
owners. However, I feel that the
Government should ban(明令禁止) people from keeping
large pets in tiny flats. Animal deserve
better treatment than this.

letter, we may know that the word “ collie” is
______.
A. the dog’s name B. the

Some pupils
usually have their summer holidays in about the

many pupils like going back to school to play
games, ping-pong, basketball, and football,

meals.
