F 17. A 18. E 19. C 20. G
17.A 根据本段前两句“Some people may think that a garden is no more than plants,
flowers, patterns and masses of color. Others are concerned about using gardening
methods that require less water and fewer fertilizers(肥料).”

Both men and women are living longer these days in industrialized countries. 16
In general, they can expect to live six or seven years more than men. One reason for
this is biological.
One important biological factor that helps women live longer is the difference
in hormones between men and women. 17 Between the ages of about 12 and 50, women
produce hormones that are involved in fertility(生育能力). These hormones also have
a positive effect on the heart and blood flow. In fact, women are less likely to have
high blood pressure or to die from heart attacks.
18 They help the body defend itself against some kinds of inf
ections. This means that women generally ger sick less often and less
seriously than men. The common cold is a good example: women, on a
verage, get fewer colds than men.19 Scientists are still not exa
ctly sure how influence aging, but they believe that they do. Some t
hink that a woman’s body cells have a tendency(向) to age more slow
ly than a man’s. Others think that a man’s body cells have a tend
ency to age more quickly. 20
A.However, women, on average, live longer.
B .The biological factor plays an important part.
C. Women are also helped by their female genes.

- 3 -

D. The female hormones also protect the body in another way.
E. Recent research seems to support both of these possibilities.
F. Therefore, women are more healthy than men and can live a better
life.
G. Hormones are chemicals which are produced by the body to control
carious body functions.
【答案】16.A 17.G 18.D 19.C 20.E
故选A。
Some think that a woman’s body cells have a tendency(向) to age mor
e slowly than a man’s. Others think that a man’s body cells have
a tendency to age more quickly.

The results may surprise you!
使用A项“Try a self-assessment quiz.”
For most people, there isn’t just one ‘right’ job, but several
that could be satisfying.
Talk to people who have occupations that interest you.
Invest some time and effort, and find the right career for you .
“ Finding your place.”
Some have a strong interest in history or a love for the arts.
项“Then they might think about education, museums or art production.”

thustherefore因此,so (such)...
However
而, though可是,不过,然而, yet然而, in spite of不顾,不管, at any rate无论如何,
至少, in any case无论如何,不管怎样, whoever无论是谁, whatever无论什么,on the
contrary正相反, in contrast与此相反, 相比之下, by contrast相反, 相比之下, in

- 7 -

否则;除此以外,not---but不是 -----而是,as well也等。
另外,加之, what’s more更重要的是, too也,还, either也, neither两者都不, not only„
but also不但„而且等。
先, secondly第二(点);其次, thirdly第三„; first第一, next其次, then那么, 然后„;
in the first place第一,首先, in the second place第二, 其次„; for one thing首先,
一则, for another thing其次„; to begin with首先,第一, to conclude首先,第一等

A good laugh is like a mild workout.
It exercises the muscles, gets the blood flowing, decreases blood pressure and
improves sleep patterns and the immune system. 36 .
Don’t take life too seriously. We all have obstacles in life and we all make mistakes.
37 In fact, if you can laugh light-heartedly at your own fault, you’ll find that
you give yourself that extra happiness and confidence increase that can get you over
any obstacle.
Find the humor in a bad situation. Sure , there are some situations where you are
really sad. 38 The next time you feel the stress levels rising, take a minute to
think about the funny side of the situation and laugh over the things you cannot control.

- 8 -

This will lower your blood pressure, blood sugar levels and heart rate.
Remind yourself of funny moments from the past. Perhaps a friend told you a great
joke the other day or your children or pets did something amusing. 39 Sometimes
just reliving a funny moment can cause the endorphins(内啡肽), natural painkillers,
to kick in.
40 As the saying goes, laughter is contagious(会传染的). So make a point of seeking
out positive people who aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves and are good at finding
humor in life’s situations. Young children are especially skilled at finding laughter
and joy in everyday moments.
A. Take control over your emotions.
B. There is no reason to blame yourself for it.
C. However, most situations in life have funny sides.
D. Surround yourself with fun people who like to laugh a lot.
E. The following are some ways to enjoy more laughter and joy in your life.
s show that people with pets have lower levels of depression and stress.
on these memories frequently, especially when feeling sad, angry
orstressed.
36E
37B
38C
39G
40D

- 9 -

We all have obstacles in life and we all make mistakes.
故B项“There is no reason to blame yourself for it.”
Find the humor in a bad situation.
Sure , there are some situations where you are really sad当然,有一些我们真
Remind yourself of funny moments from the past.
As the saying goes, laughter is contagious(会传染的). So make
a point of seeking out positive people who aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves and
are good at finding humor in life’s situations.
yourself with fun people who like to laugh a lot.”

that could be satisfying.

thustherefore因此,so (such)...
However
而, though可是,不过,然而, yet然而, in spite of不顾,不管, at any rate无论如何,
至少, in any case无论如何,不管怎样, whoever无论是谁, whatever无论什么,on the

否则;除此以外,not---but不是 -----而是,as well也等。

We all have obstacles in life and we all make mistakes.

故B项“There is no reason to blame yourself for it.”
Find the humor in a bad situation.
Sure , there are some situations where you are really sad当然,有一些我们真
Remind yourself of funny moments from the past.
As the saying goes, laughter is contagious(会传染的). So make
a point of seeking out positive people who aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves and

yourself with fun people who like to laugh a lot.”
