I like travaling and I have traveled a lot around China. During the trip, I often find that a number
of Chinese don’t have good pulic manners(举止). They always loudly on the phone and smoke
everywhere. The worst is that they often break the rules in public. For example, when I travled
in HongKong in January this year, I saw a kid eating noodles on the underground , which is

I am a 14-year-old boy from a poor village in Fuyang , Anhui Province. Like
many other left-behind children(留守儿童)in China, l live with my grandparents
now. my father went to work inn Shanghai several years ago. Last year, my mother
went there to care for him because his health is not as good as before. They tell me to
listen to my grandparents and call me about twice a month to ask about my study. I

Zhang Wei: Yesterday my friend Jim went to school without his homework. He told the teacher

will get three cents from American Online each time this message is forwarded(转发). So please be
kind and forward this to everyone you know. If not, you will have bad luck for a year.” In fact, it is
just one of the silly chain letters(连锁信)to cheat you and waste your time.

Xu Yan: A big earthquake (地震) hit Ya’an, Sichuan on April 20
th
. The earthquake
was strongly felt by people in Chengdu. A rumor said Chengdu would be hit by a
bigger earthquake in the coming days. For the next several days, thousands of people
camped outside their houses at night because of fear. Besides, many people rushed to
buy food, water, medicine and so on. Some businessmen used people’s fear of
earthquake to help sell their goods (商品) at a higher price. Of course, nothing
happened in the end.

Welcome to Woodlands Junior School. Our school is big and it has 380 students aged
7-11. However, it only had 108 students and four teachers when it was open on
September 10th, 1964.
Main Teaching Building
As you can see, the school has a huge yard and next to it is the main teaching
building. It is a two-storey building with twelve classrooms, six on each floor. In each classroom there is a computer,
an overhead projector (投影仪), and a smart whiteboard. It also has a small reading area with different kinds of
books offered by the students.
Library
Our school library is used for all the reading classes weekly and at
lunch times. The members of the reading club also meet here and do
some reading after school.

School Hall
We have a fantastic school hall. It is used for gym, meetings and
having lunch. It is the place where we hold many events, such as school plays, concerts,
indoor games and so on.
Other Rooms
We have a well-equipped music room for music lessons, a computer room of thirty- two
computers and a large staffroom for teachers o have a rest during lunch times.
Playgrounds
We are lucky to have two playgrounds. They are used by the students for ball games and cross- country runs. Our
students enjoy themselves here after school every afternoon.

Seven People Drowned in a Reservoir (水库)

Reporter Tang got the news from Guangdong Provincial Government that seven people
died in a drowning accident on April 5th, 2015. A 17-year-old girl, Xiao Yi, fell into a reservoir
while washing hands after a tomb (墓)sweeping with her family. Her sister, her parents, her
brother and some of her relatives jumped into the water one after another to

save her, although they didn't have good swimming skills. Unfortunately, none of them succeeded. As a result, Xiao Yi and
six of her family members lost their lives.

Three People Lost Their Lives in the Dongjiang River

On May 1st. 2015, seven middle school students went swimming the Dongjiang River. At first,
they had a great time playing in the cool water. Suddenly one of the boys had a cramp (抽筋).
He went up and down in the water and shouted for help. Tow of them tried to save him, but got
drowned. At that time, a man called Li Jinlin was fishing nearby. When he

heard the shout, he jumped into the water with out a second though. He tried his best and succeeded in pulling one the three
boys onto the bank. When he tried to save the second one. he ran out of energy and couldn’t go up again. Two students and he
lost their lives.
