1.绕口tongue twister
Diven feels that Russian names usually seem to
be tongue twisters to a Chinese.
Diven注释：第一，顺口叫 to roll right off the
tongue；第二，拗口的东西则是 a tongue
twister；第三，打磕巴，吃螺丝，叫 to trip over one's own
tongue。
2.哪儿凉快哪儿呆去leave me alone
Okay! Sarah, just stop nagging me, I've had
enough of that! Would you please just leave
me
a lone for a second?
Diven注释：当别人跟你说Leave me
alone（哪儿凉快哪儿呆去！） 时你还无动于衷的话，
他就可能接着来一句：Get
lost！（滚蛋！）所以，你还是赶快闪吧。
3.软柿子cowardly lion
Amanda is not a cowardly lion; don't try to
push over her.
Diven注释：阿曼达可不是个软柿子，你可不要想欺负她。意思是“欺
负某人”。
4.欺负bully
When a kid attends
kindergarten the first time, if he or she is very
shy, he or she is prone
to get bullied
by other kids.
Diven注释：请注意用词区别，欺负bully，戏弄tease
，吓唬bullyrag（也可写成ballyrag）。

5.集思广益put ones' heads together

torn.或是 someone is on the fence.
7.小三the
other woman

mean that he is cheating on his wife!
Diven注释：小三叫 mistress.例如：Mary is a mistress,
that's why her family don't like
her.
另外，小三也可以表达为the other woman, home wrecker
等等。
8.权衡利弊weigh the advantages and
disadvantages of something.
We should weigh
all the advantages and disadvantages of the plan
before we carry it out.

是（重量，加重，占有权重）,
只可惜中国体制内的“英语教师”们水准良莠不齐，实在让人大跌眼镜。

部委的编书老师水平尚只如此，何况

学考察，发现大多数英语老师无法和老美正常
交流。老美问我，

她是一位英语老师）老美大摇其头！

side 两害择其轻者
the lesser of two
evils.二者择其一either-or alternatives.
9.恍然大悟
dawn on someone

Diven注释：“恍然大悟”的表达方式可谓多种多样，给大家列举几个“英语老师”教不了的吧：<

10.玩心眼 to
scheme

Diven注释：scheme是指“谋划，诡计”。be up to是“从事，忙于某事”的意思。
