You may have heard
the name Robin Li. He created Baidu, China's
largest search
engine in China. But, what do
you really know about the 49yearold man?
Born in 1968, Li was the 4th of 5 children
born to factory workers in Yangquan
of Shanxi
Province in northern China. Like most of the kids
in the neighborhood, Li
spent his childhood in
hardships and lacked of better education. His
mother, however,
taught him to stay motivated
(有目的的) for a better tomorrow. He grew up
remembering
his mother's words.
Li never
forgot his mother's words and studied seriously.
He cleared the entrance
of Peking University
and completed Bachelor of Science degree in
library information
management. He later
completed a postgraduate course for computer

University of Buffalo, the State University of New
York.
In the early stages of the development
of search engines, Robin Li, as one of
the
earliest researchers in the world, created ESP
technology and successfully applied
it to the
search engine.
At the end of 1999, Robin Li
returned to China and founded Baidu. After years
of effort, Baidu has become the most popular
Chinese website in China, the largest
Chinese
search engine and the largest Chinese website.
Under the leadership of Robin Li, Baidu
established one of the most impressive
search
engine technical teams in the world. Its
management team, product design team,
development team and maintenance (维持,维护) team
are also among the best in China.
Baidu
brought a new possibility to the nation's search
engine operating pattern and
enabled more
companies to share Internet achievements.
