Yumeiren
Too long the autumn moon and spring
flowers last.
I wonder how much they've known
of my past.
Last night spring breezes through
an upper room—
Reminds me too much of my
present gloom.
With a bright moon, how could I
my country recall—
Without a sense of defeat
and despair at all.
The Palace should be
still there as before—
With its carved
railings; jade-like steps galore.
Only here
are changes which my plight entail.
My
complexion, once ruddy, has become pale.
Should I be asked how much anguish I have
found,
Strange! It is like flowing water,
eastward bound.

Twig of Plum Blossoms
The jade-like mat feels
autumn's cold ,I change a coat
And ' mid the
fading fragrance
Of lotus pink alone I boat.
Will wild returning geese bring letters
through the cloud ?
When they come ,with
moonbeams
My west chamber is overflowed .
As water flows and flowers fall without
leaving traces,
One and the same longing
Overflows two lonely places.
I cannot get
rid of this sorrow: kept apart
From my
eyebrows ,
It gnaws my heart?

The Double Ninth Festival
Light
mists and heavy clouds,
melancholy the long
dreary day.
In the golden censer
the
burning incense is dying away.
It is again
time
for the lovely Double-Ninth Festival;
The coolness of midnight
penetrates my
screen of sheer silk
and chills my pillow of
jade.
After drinking wine at twilight
under the chrysanthemum hedge,
My sleeves
are perfumed
by the fragrance of the plants.
Oh, I cannot say it is not endearing,
Only, when the west wind stir the curtain,
I see that I am more gracile
than the
yellow flowers.

When will the moon be clear and
bright?
With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask
the blue sky
what season it would be up
the heaven for tonight.
Oh Moon, how I wish to
get closer
By riding on the breeze.
Yet I
fear your crystal and jade chateau,
Are much
too high and cold.
So, let me just dance here
with my moonlight shadow.
Rounds and rounds,
my red mansion, till you shine on my silk
pillow,
Sleepless, but bearing no regrets
Blame not the full moon when people has to
apart
Sorrow or joy, be near or far,
Things happen like that, and we still believe
in fate.
Toast to you, we are all be blessed
Though distant away, we look at the same moon
And in that way, we have never been apart.

Half drunk, I pluck the wick of the
oiled lamp,
Making light brighter to inspect
my sword.
What calls to my mind is the former
camp,
Wherein resound many a bugle call.
Roast beef are handed out to the soldiers;
Fifty-strings strike up frontier martial air.
What a maneuver array in bleak fall!
The
horses gallop like steeds from heaven;
The
arrows twang and thwack like thunder-blast…
If
only I could settle th’ king’s concern
And win
a good fame for ever to last.
It’s too bad, my
hair has turned grey, alack!
