邀请信及复信
Letters of Invitations and Acknowledgments

邀请信包括宴会邀请 、午餐和晚餐邀请、聚会邀请、舞会邀请、婚礼邀请等。邀请信分为两种：一种
是正规的格式(form al correspondence），也叫做请柬；一种是非正规的格式（informal correspondence），
就是一般的邀请信。

邀请信虽然看起来不象请 柬那样正规、庄重，但是，也是很讲究的。要写好邀请信，需注意以下几个
问题：

1，邀请信一定要写得明确、完整，不可留下任何疑问使收信人琢磨不定。要写明场合、地点、（年）
月 、日及钟点。要写得具体。例如，“I'd like you and Tom to come to dinner next Wednesday.”究竟是哪
一个星期三呢？这样写法就不够明确，需要 加上具体的日期，如“I'd like you and Tom to come to dinner
on Wednesday, June tenth.”

2，在欧美，夜晚的邀 请，除了那些只允许男人参加的社交活动外，不论是正式的还是非正式的，都
应该邀请夫妻双方。非正式 邀请信是发给朋友的妻子，信封上的收信人只写妻子的姓名，但是在正文
中应该专门提到丈夫。例如：

Dear Betty:

We are planning a tea party to celebrate Dr. Lear's fiftieth anniversary of his medical teaching and of course
we want you and Tom to come. It's next Friday, June eighth, at seven o'clock.

I do hope you can make it, as Levens and I are looking forward with great pleasure to seeing you both.

3，回信不要使用打字机打。回信要象请柬一样 地简明，以妻子代表夫妻两人写给女主人，但是在信
的正文中应该提及男女主人。

4，要记住，别人邀请你是出于对你的尊重，应该给予及时的，有礼貌的答复。如有可能，应该在二
十四 小时之内答复。如果你不能践约，女主人好另作安排。如果邀请信用的是短笺形式，你也就用短
笺形式回 信，有时候也可以打电话说明你是应邀呢还是谢却。然而，亲自写一封短信似乎更有礼貌些。

5，对于邀请信，在复信时应该明确地说明是接受还是不 接受。如果在你的回信中使用这种摸棱两可
的话：“I'll try my best to come.”“I'll come if I'm in town”等等，那会使女主人感到十分不安。应该明
确地说明是去还是不去，以便让女主人早作安排。

6，在你写表示应邀的短笺时，要对受到邀请表示高兴。在你写表示谢却的短笺时，应该写出 你的失
望和遗憾之情，并具体说明你不能践约的原因，不能笼统地说“I'm sorry I can't come to your luncheon
next Tuesday.”而应该说明原因，如：“I'm sorry I can't come to your luncheon next Tuesday because that's
the day my daughter gets home from school.”

7，接受邀 请时，在回信中要重复写上邀请信中的某些内容，如几月几日、星期几、几点钟等等。不
应该这样写：“ I'll be delighted to attend your luncheon...”而应该写“I'll be delighted to attend your
luncheon on Thursday, May tenth, at one o'clock”这样写，可以纠正你或者女主人可能弄错了的日期和
时间。

宴会邀请信及复信

邀请参加正式宴会一般都使用镌印的正规请柬，普通宴会的请柬一般都是采用书信形式。
< br>一般非正式的、书信式的短笺，尽管其形式比正式请柬要随便一些，灵活一些，但是它仍需遵循某些
固定的格式。这种短笺大都是两小段。尽管措辞与正式请柬不同，但是基本内容不外乎“Will you come
to dinner on a certain date, at a certain time?”

接受任何邀请，都应该有礼貌地、准确地表达自己的感激。明确地显示出你为 受到邀请而高兴，热烈
地等待着赴宴的日期。

如果必须谢却赴宴，写谢却短笺时要 十分谨慎，一面冒犯了女主人；复信的语气应该十分真切，表明
你非常惋惜。

要是你不能接受某种宴请，那也得说明原因，如说“事前已经有了约会不能赴宴”等等。

Hugh and I would certainly like to see those Nassau pictures, as we think that's where we're going this
winter. Will you give us a private showing some time? Just say when and we'll be there!
