Only的倒装用法
（要点精讲）
1．副词only置于句首，强调方式状 语、条件状语、地点状语、时间状语等状语时，主句要
进行部分倒装。句型为：only+状语+be助 动词情态动词+主语。
Only in a big city was it possible to buy a new wheelchair. 只有在大城市里才能买到新轮椅。
Only then did I realize the importance of English. 只有那时我才意识到英语的重要性
Only in this way can you solve the problem. 只有通过这种方式你才能解决问题。

2．如果被only所强调的状语为状语从句，该状语从句不倒装，只对主句进行部分倒装。
用only对句子中的状语从句进行强调
(1)We realized that there was a mistake when we had studied the data again.
→Only when we had studied the data again did we realize that there was a mistake.
只有当我们再次研究这些数据的时候，我们才意识到有错。
(2)He get some tickets in the end because there were some cancelled bookings.
→Only because there were some cancelled bookings did he get some tickets in the end.
一些预订被取消了，他才得以最后买到几张票。
(3)You can pass the exam if you study hard.
→Only if you study hard can you pass the exam
只有努力学习才能通过考试。
注意：部分倒装是指将谓语的一部分如助动词或情态动词倒装至主语之前。如果句子的谓
语没有 助动词或情态动词，则需添加助动词do，does或did，并将其置于主语之前。

3．但如果only修饰主语，则无需倒装。如：
Only John can save me.
只有约翰能够救我。（only修饰的是句子的主语，故仍用正常语序）
Only some of the children passed the examination.
只有几个孩子通过了考试。（only修饰的是句子的主语，故仍用正常语序）

（典例剖析）
【例题1】Only when Lily walked into the office ______ that she had left the contract at home.
A．she realized B．has she realized C．she has realized D．did she realize

【解析】考查倒装及时态。句意：直到莉莉走进办公室时，她才意识到她把合同忘在家里了。
“ only＋状语从句”位于句首表示强调时，主句要用部分倒装。根据时间状语从句when Lily
walked into the office可知，要用一般过去时。故答案为D。

【解析】考查倒装句。句意：只有当他为他的粗鲁道歉的时候，我才会再跟他说话 。本题的
第一个关键词是only。当only放在句首，修饰副词、介词短语或状语从句时，主句用部 分
倒装。第二个关键点是when引导的时间状语从句，有“主将从现”的用法，本题中从句用
的是一般现在时，因此主句用一般将来时。
