Story 1 Three Good Friends
One day, a monkey rides his bike near the river. This time he sees
a lion under a tree. The lion runs at him. He is afraid and falls into
the river. He can’t swim. He shouts. The rabbit hears him. He jumps
into the river. The rabbit swims to the monkey, but he can’t help
him. Luckily, an elephant comes along. He is very strong. He helps
the rabbit and monkey. Three friends are very happy. They go to
the elephant’s home. Then, three of them become good friends.

故事一 三个好朋友
一天， 一只猴子在河边骑车。这时他看见树下有一只狮子，狮子向他跑来。他非常的害怕，掉进河里。他不会游泳，大叫起来。
兔子听见了，跳进水里，但他却没 有办法救猴子。幸运的是，一
只大象过来了。大象非常强壮，救出了兔子和猴子。他们来到大
象 的家，在那里吃了一顿大餐。从此他们成了好朋友。
Story 2 The Old Man and the Old Cat
An old man has a cat. The cat is very old, too. He runs very
quickly. And his teeth are bad. One evening, the old cat sees a little

mouse. He catches it, but he can’t eat it because his teeth are not
strong enough. The mouse runs away.
The old man is very angry. He beats his cat. He says: “You are a
fool cat. I will punish you!” the cat is very sad. He thinks：“When
I was young, I worked hard for you. Now you don’t like me because
I’m too old to work. You should know you are old, too.”
故事二 老人和老猫
一个年迈的老人养一 只猫。这只猫也非常老了。她跑得很快，
但是牙齿很糟糕。一天王还是那个，这只老猫看见一只小老鼠。
它抓住了小老鼠，但是它却吃不了它，因为它的牙齿不够锋利了。
这只小老鼠逃跑了。
老人很生气，他打了小猫，并且对它说：“你这只蠢猫！我
要惩罚你！”猫非常伤心，它 想：“在我还年轻的时候，我为你
努力工作。现在你却因为我太老了不能工作而不喜欢我。你应该
知道你也老了。”
Story 4 Look for a Friend
Sam is a little fish. He lives in the sea. He is very lonely. He
wants to have a friend. The friend looks like him. Sam sees an ink

fish. The ink fish has eight legs. He doesn’t look like Sam. So Sam
goes away. Sam meets a shark. He wants to say hello to the shark.
The shark opens his big mouth. Sam runs away quickly. Sam is tired
and hungry. He wants to have a rest. Then he sees a round fish. She
says to him. “Hello! Would you like to be my friend” Sam
answers: “Of course! But you are sound. I am flat.” The round fish
days: “But we are both fishes.”
Sam thinks and says, “You are right. Let’s be friends.” They
become good friends.

故事四： 找朋友
塞姆是一条小鱼，他在海里。他生在海里。他很孤独，想要找
一个朋友，那个朋友看起来要想他。 塞姆 看见一条墨鱼。墨鱼
有8条腿，看上去不像塞姆。因此塞姆游走了。塞姆遇见一条鲨
鱼。他想跟 鲨鱼问好。鲨鱼张开大嘴，塞姆有迅速地逃走了。
塞姆又累又饿，他要休息一会儿。这时他看见一条圆 鱼，圆鱼对
他说：“你好！你愿意做我的朋友吗”

塞姆回答：“好哇！可你是 圆形的，我是扁的。”圆鱼说：“但
是我们俩都是鱼啊！”
塞姆思考后说：“你讲得对，让我们做朋友吧。”他们就成为好
朋友了。
The ass and his purchaser A man wanted to buy an ass. He
went to the market, and saw a likely one. But he wanted to test him
first.
So he took the ass home, and put him into the stable with the
other asses. The new ass looked around, and immediately went to
choose a place next to the laziest ass in the stable. When the
man saw this he put a halter on the ass at once, and gave him back
to his owner.
The owner felt quite surprised. He asked the man, are
you back so soon Have you tested him already
him any more,
himself, I could see what sort of animal he is.
译文： 驴和买驴的人
一个买主到市场上去买驴，他看中一头外表不错的驴，但是
他想要牵走试一试。

他把驴牵回家，放在自己其他的驴之间，这驴四处看看，立
即走向一头好吃懒做的驴旁边。
于是，买驴的人立刻给那头驴套上辔头，牵去还给驴的卖
主。
卖主感到很奇怪，他问买 主：“你怎么这么快就回来了”买
主说：“不必再试了，从他所选择什么样的朋友来看，我已经知
道他是什么样了。”

寓意: 物以类聚，人以群分。人们往往喜欢跟与自己相同的
人交往，所以，我们可以根据一个人的朋友来推断他的为人。
The Old Cat
An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run
quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day
the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But
she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran
away, because the cat could not bite it.

Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not
killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said,

your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would
work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but
remember what good work the old did when they were young.

【译文】

老猫

一位老妇有只猫，这只猫很老，它跑不快 了，也咬不了东西，因
为它年纪太大了。一天，老猫发现一只老鼠，它跳过去抓这只老
鼠，然而 ，它咬不住这只老鼠。因此，老鼠从它的嘴边溜掉了，
因为老猫咬不了它。

于是 ，老妇很生气，因为老猫没有把老鼠咬死。她开始打这只猫，
猫说：“不要打你的老仆人，我已经为你服 务了很多年，而且还
愿意为你效劳，但是，我实在太老了，对年纪大的不要这么无情，
要记住老 年人在年青时所做过的有益的事情。”
