Most Americans believe there are unspoken rules
about mobile phone
etiquette(礼节). Checking
emails, sending text messages and making telephone
calls while in the company of others are
surely bad mobile manners. Texting
during a
date is also unacceptable.
But
most people questioned in an online survey said
they would not be
uncomfortable if they
received an electronic(电子的) thank you, instead of
a
written one. And 75 percent totally accepted
that people use laptops, netbooks
and cell
phones in the bathroom.
is first a
question of awareness(意识),said author and
etiquette expert Anna Post. But she described
the results of the Harris
Interactive survey
carried out by Intel as surprising
statistics
Sixty-two percent of the 2,625
adults who took part in the survey agreed that
cell phones, laptops, netbooks and other
electronic devices are part of daily
life.
Fifty-five percent also thought the demands of
business mean people must
stay
connected, even if it includes answering a cell
phone during a meal or
taking a laptop on a
holiday.
But despite the need to
be always connected and the general acceptance
of the technology, people were more sensitive
about technology use during
holiday and
religious activities. Nearly 90 percent of
Americans think cell
phone use is unacceptable
during a religious service and 30 percent admitted
they would be uncomfortable if they received
an online gift wish. But more
than half showed
that they intended to send an electronic greeting
card,
instead of a paper one.

The best time of year to visit Florida is going to
depend on exactly
who you ask, but the general
thought is that it is in one of three seasons:
spring, fall and winter. Avoid a trip to the
Sunshine State in the summer
unless you like
the idea 110 degree days with high
humidity(湿度).
Travelling to
Florida in the spring is nice, but it can be very
warm
and very humid by the beginning of March,
depending on where in Florida you
are
travelling to. You can do research on sites like
to follow
trends(趋势) for the average and high
temperatures of any given month of the
year.
Take a look at these temperatures and see what
month of the year might
be ideal(理想的) for your
trip.
When planning a trip to
Florida in the fall, the same travel
conditions may exist as in the spring so it is
not the chosen travel time for
many. The fall
also has the largest number of rainstorms in
Florida, second to
the spring rains. This, for
some, is ideal, as the adventurer(冒险家) may
catch a hurricane or two.
But
for most, the perfect time of the year to visit
Florida is in the
winter, as this is when the
rest of the country is suffering from the cold and
Florida is enjoying some of the warmest
weather in the United States. This is
often
when the largest number of travel deals are
published as well. The
population of Florida
grows by nearly double in the winter time because
of the
number of travellers in addition to the
to avoid the cold northern temperatures.

The banana is popular
all over the world. Its three colours tell you
how ripe(熟的) it is. Green means you should go
and find another banana.
Yellow means you can
eat it. Brown means you can eat it but you don't
need
to use your teeth to break it up. A
banana is neat to eat. When you bite into
it,
you don't have to worry about the juice. And it's
a silent food-you can
eat it without driving
your neighbours crazy with noisy sounds like
eating
apples or carrots. Finally, it's easy
to cut-you don't have to use a knife.
You're never too young or too old to eat bananas.
Babies eat mashed(捣
碎的) bananas before their
teeth come through. Great-great-grandparents eat
mashed bananas after their teeth come out.
The banana is ready for cooking. You
can fry it, bake it or mash it.
At lunchtime,
you can make a banana sandwich, or eat a bag of
dried banana.
You can add a banana to your ice
cream for dessert and call it a banana boat.
Here in the US, we get most of our
bananas from Ecuador and Costa Rica,
although
the fruit was reportedly born in Asia. Bananas are
a kind of healthy
fruit which contain lots of
vitamins A and C. Science studies show that eating
bananas can make people feel happy, but
doctors advise us to eat them after
meals. The
price of bananas hasn't changed much over recent

about 65 cents a pound.
