the first unit in BOOK4 . It introduces

women of achievement. The reading passage A
Student Of African
Wildlife describes a day of
Jane Goodall and her colleagues in the forest
observing the chimps. It is the center of this
unit’s teaching and
learning this lesson,the
students can not only know about
Jane
Goodall’s working methods,her great achievements
and her attitude
towards wild animals,but also
build up their confidence of success,
especially the girls to pursue their dreams
and enhance their awareness of
protecting
animals. Reading the passage,the students can also
learn some
reading strategies such as
predicting,skimming and drawing conclusions.

The students are in
Grade 1. They are still at an age that would like
to pursue for new and interesting things .Most
of them have mastered
some skills of reading.
Besides,the topic of great women is familiar to

students,most of them are
from the country,they are of different levels and
they have difficulty in comprehending
and expressing their ideas in
