A little boy was playing in his
sandbox on a Saturday morning. While he was
building roads
and houses in the soft sand, he
discovered a large stone in the middle of the
sandbox.
The little boy pushed and pulled, but
every time he thought he had made some progress,
the
stone tipped (倾斜) and then fell back into
the sandbox. The little boy tried his best, but
his only
reward was to have the stone roll
back.
Finally the boy cried. All that time the
boy‘s father watched him from his living room
window.
At the moment tears fell, his father
came to the boy and the sandbox. Gently but surely
he said,
―son, why didn‘t you use all the
strength that you had?‖ The boy said sadly, ―But I
did, daddy,
I did!
I used all the strength
that I had!‖ ―No, son,‖ corrected the father.‖ ―
you didn‘t ask me.‖
With that,
the father
reached down, picked up the stone and removed it
into sandbox.
Do you have ―stones‖ in your
life that need to be removed? Are you discovering
that you are
too weak to lift them? There is
ONE who is always ready to give us the strength we
need. Isn‘t it
funny how we try so hard to do
things on our own?

this story?
A. We should learn to ask for help

Have you ever
seen a car without a driver? It sounds crazy, but
these computer-driven
driver-less cars have
appeared on the roads in Shenzhen. Companies like
Google and Tesla have been
designing and
testing these cars, and the technology is there.
So how? The cars have sensors(感应器) all
around which can find other cars and objects in
the
road. Road signs are read by cameras, and
satellite navigation systems(卫星导航系统) are used so
the car knows how to get where you want to go.
All you have to do is type in the address!
Finally,
a central computer system takes in
all the information that it receives from the
sensors and cameras
and works out when to
speed up, stop and turn.
Sound like your idea
of heaven? Sitting back, looking out of the
windows and even watching a
film or reading a
book while
have to worry about remembering
directions to where you're going. In addition,
computers would
also drive more safely than
people—they would obey the rules and have quicker
action times when
in dangerous situations.
However, there are many drawbacks of driver-
less cars. Computers would have difficulties
making ethical(道德的) decisions: if a child ran
into the road, would the computer choose to hit
the
child or turn suddenly and
potentially kill the car's passengers? Moreover, I
personally find driving
fun—I'd miss never
driving a car myself. There would also be many
other decisions to be
made—should children, or
drunk people be allowed in a driver-less car by
themselves? Or would
there need to be a person
with a driving license in the car at all times?
I'm not certain I'd want a driver-less car—but
it's only a matter of time before they'll become
more affordable and popular on our roads.
76. When using a driver-less car, you need
only ________.
A. use satellite navigation
systems B. read road signs carefully
C. put
the address into the computer D. take photos with
cameras
77. From Paragraph 3 we know that
driver-less cars ________.
A. wouldn‘t be seen
on the roads B. would break the rules
C.
drove less safely than people D. have many
advantages
78. The underlined word
―potentially‖ in Paragraph 4 means ________.
A. possibly B. politely C. luckily D.
successfully
79. According to the last
paragraph, the writer thinks future driver-less
cars will ________.
A. cause more accidents
B. be less expensive
C. use less energy D.
run much faster
80. Which of the following is
the best title of the passage?
A. A driver-
less car B. How to drive a car
C. Ways to
type the address D. I'd want a driver-less car

A new rubbish sorting system(垃圾分类系统)
has been put into use in Fangchengyuan
Community in Beijing. Local people not only
sort their rubbish, but also put QR codes(二维码) on
it.
, I will get reward points to
exchange for
small gifts and even some money,
‖ one of the local people told reporters. ―It's
really creative
and encouraging.
This smart
system has been carried out in 350 communities in
Beijing. The capital of China has
joined a
list of cities in the country that take action to
support rubbish sorting. For example,
Shenzhen
and Shanghai have made laws to punish people and
organizations for not sorting rubbish
correctly.
China produces quite a lot of
rubbish every year. Much of the rubbish is
buried(填埋) in soil
or burned without being
sorted. Landfills(填埋场) take up a lot of land and
have a risk of polluting
the soil and water
nearby. And burning rubbish can produce harmful
gases. Through rubbish
sorting, we can reduce
the use of landfills and air pollution.
What's
more, rubbish sorting saves resources, which could
bring economic benefits(经济利
益). For example, a
ton of waste paper can be reused to make about
850kg of paper, saving 17 trees
and 50 percent
of water. Because of their benefits, some
countries have developed successful
sorting
systems.
Japan has a strict and detailed
system. When people throw away a water bottle, the
cap, the
wrapper(包装纸) and the bottle itself
have to go into three different bins. Every year,
families
receive special rubbish sorting
timetables and directions from their local
governments. They are
advised to follow the
timetables and directions when they throw away
rubbish.
In Australia, every family is
provided with three rubbish bins—the red lid(盖子)
bin for
―general waste‖ like food and
plastic bags, the yellow lid bin for ―recycling‖
like steel and
glass,
and the green lid
bin for ―green waste‖ such as grass and leaves. On
the streets, the bins are
printed
with
pictures of the things that are allowed inside. It
makes recycling quite easy.
81. Local people
in Fangchengyuan Community will get________ if
they use the new system.
A. a new computer.
B. a rubbish car. C. a lot of money. D. some
small gifts.
82. Which of the following is NOT
the consequence(后果) of burying rubbish?
A.
Polluting soil. B. Protecting environment.
C. Polluting water. D. Taking up a lot of land.
83. Paragraph 5 mainly tells us ________.
A. how to save resources B. the benefits of
rubbish sorting
C. how to reuse paper D. the
development of sorting systems
84. From
Paragraph 6 and Paragraph 7, we know that ________
in Japan and Australia.
A. every family has
different sorting timetables and directions
B. most of the people are not willing to obey the
rules at all
C. the governments take action
to advise people to sort rubbish
D. the bins
on the streets and at home are printed the same
pictures
85. According to the passage, which
of the following is TRUE?
A. Beijing has
created a new rubbish sorting system with QR
codes.
B. Rubbish burying in landfills is as
popular as rubbish sorting in bins.
C.
Shenzhen and Shanghai only made laws to support
rubbish sorting.
D. The strict and detailed
system makes recycling quite hard in Australia .

Being a fit person is very
important for lots of people today. In fact, some
people
like running and exercising so much
that they become obsessed with it.
Thanks to
fitness apps and gadgets (小玩意), people can measure
every step they take,
what they eat and every
calorie they burn. They might wear a special watch
on their wrist, shoes on
their feet or use
different apps on their phone to measure their
movements. Importantly, once they
have done
that they post it on social media. All of their
friends can see where they’ve run, what
workout (健身) they’ve done or what they had for
lunch.
Doctor Daniel Kraft from the United
States makes gadgets for people like this. He told
the Digital
Health Summit that these people
would become the norm (常态) in the future.
I
think he’s right. I can see the world of health
and fitness changing around me every day.
One of my friends, named Anna Palmer, is always
using the latest fitness gadgets. Her favorite
is an app called Argus. She uses it on her
phone to measure her steps, heart rate and amount
of calories
she has burnt. She always posts
these things and pictures of herself exercising on
social media. “It’s
nice to know exactly how
much exercise you have done rather than guess,”
she said. “That way I can
keep pushing myself
to improve.”
Also, my friends in China use
Wechat to compare how many steps they’ve taken
each day. They are
very competitive about
this!

For years people have enjoyed following
the life of Garfield the cat. Garfield
is a
popular comic book character, known for being lazy
and fat. But the cat was
back in the news
recently for something you might not expect.
A man in the United States changed the gender (性别)
of Garfield to “none” on the cat’s Wikipedia
(维基百科) page. After that lots of people got
angry and kept changing Garfield’s Wikipedia page.
They argued about whether the cat was a boy,
girl or neither.
Wikipedia finally locked
the page to stop people editing it. Jim Davis,
Garfield’s creator, settled
(解决) the argument.
“Garfield is male (男性),” he simply told the
Washington Post. The 71-year-old artist said he
liked working with animals because they didn’t
have to be old, young, boys or girls. He was angry
that some people cared so much about
Garfield’s gender.
It seems like quite an
unnecessary argument to have. But it is not the
only recent example of argument
about gender.
To celebrate International Women’s Day in
Australia earlier this year, the city of Melbourne
made
10 traffic lights with a figure (人形)
dressed in a skirt. They were designed to
celebrate women and
give them more confidence
in public.
But not everyone thinks the idea
is necessary. Some people think it is important
for women to be
treated fairly in Australia,
but that this idea is silly.
“I’m all for
doing anything we can for gender equity (公平), but
really?” Melbourne mayor (市
长) Robert Doyle
told the Herald Sun. The mayor said this idea is
more likely to be laughed at than
bring
respect to women.
38. What put Garfield the
cat back in the news recently?
A. The cat’s
lazy character.
B. Being included in
Wikipedia.
C. The cat’s image being changed on
Wikipedia.
D. The cat’s gender being changed
on Wikipedia.
39. According to Jim Davis,
_____.
A. Wikipedia should lock the
page about Garfield
B. Garfield can be a boy
or a girl, and young or old
C. artists don’t
care about animals’ age or gender
D. it’s
unnecessary to take Garfield’s gender seriously
40. Why did Melbourne make 10 traffic lights
with a figure dressed in a skirt?
A. To laugh
at women in public B. To celebrate International
Women’s Day
D. To treat women fairly in
Australia C. To bring more chances to women
41. What did Melbourne mayor Robert Doyle
think of the traffic light idea?
A. It would
give women more confidence in public.
B. It
would help women be treated fairly in Australia.
C. It would bring respect to women.
D. It
was not a good idea for gender equity.

One day all the employees got to the office. They
saw a big sign on the door: “Yesterday the person
who’s been holding you back in this company
died. We invite you to join the funeral in the
biggest
meeting room.” In the beginning, they
all got sad for the death of this person. But
after a while
they started wondering who the
dead person was.
As more people started
coming into the meeting room and getting closer to
the coffin (棺材), the
doubt grew. “Who is
holding me back? Well, at least he died,” everyone
was thinking.
One by one the employees
got closer. And when they looked inside it, they
suddenly became silent.
They stood there and
couldn’t say a word, as if someone had touched the
deepest part of their hearts.
There was a
mirror inside the coffin: everyone who looked
inside it could see himself or herself.
There was also a sign next to the mirror that
said: “There is only one person who can set limits
to your growth: it is YOU.” You are the only
person that can change your life. You are the only
person
that can make a difference to your
happiness and your success. You are the only
person that can help
yourself. Your life does
not change when your boss changes, when your
friends change, when your partner
changes or
when your company changes. Your life changes when
YOU change, when you go further than
your
limiting beliefs, when you realize that you are
the only one responsible for your life. “The
most important relationship you can have is
the one you have with yourself.”
42. According
to the sign on the door, the funeral was about a
person that
A. always treated
people nicely B. was strict with his
workmates
C. had been holding someone back
D. made great contributions to the company
43.
What do you learn from the underlined sentence?
A. They felt sorry for this person’s
death.
B. They felt relieved (释然的) that this
person had died.
C. They used to love this
person very much.
D. They felt surprised
about the bad news.
44. From the sign next to
the mirror, we can see that _______ can limit your
growth.
A. nobody B. parents
C. workmates D. you
45. What does the
story want to tell us?
A. Your future lies
in your own hands. B. Getting along well with
workmates matters.
C. Change your life by
being a nice person. D. Teamwork is important to
get things done.

阅读下列短文,根据短文中的信息完成文后表格。(每空一词)
Many people
believe that confident people think more highly of
themselves, while those who have
low self-
esteem (自尊) think less of their good qualities.
However, a new study says it might not
be
true, reported The Guardian.
The study was
done by Jonathan Freeman, a psychology (心理学)
professor from the University of London,
UK.
He found that 98 percent of British people
consider themselves to be among the nicest 50
percent
of the population.
In the study,
Freeman first asked some people to rate (评级) their
own niceness. Then he got people
to
answer questions like “Do you give directions to
strangers?” and “Have you ever donated blood?”.
The results showed that people are not as nice
as they think they are. Two thirds of them seldom
helped
others carry heavy shopping bags, and
only a quarter of them donated blood.
In
another study by psychologists from universities
in Chicago and Virginia, US, some people were
shown pictures of themselves. Some pictures
had been slightly changed to make them appear more
attractive. When asked to pick the unchanged
pictures, people usually chose the more attractive
ones.
So, why do we think we’re nicer than
we actually are?
There are many theories
(理论). A popular one says we unconsciously (无意识地)
deceive (欺骗)
ourselves, so that we can get
confidence without knowingly lying to ourselves or
each other.
How can we solve it? Other
studies show that there is a simple way: feedback
(反馈). Compare others’
opinion toward yourself
with your own and you will see a clearer picture.

三、阅读理解(共l5小题;每小题2分,计30分)
阅读下列内容,从每小题所给的四个选项中选出一个最佳答案。
A
When
was the last time you wrote a letter?
A
recent survey of 1,000 teenagers around the world
found that a third of today’s teenagers had
never written a letter, half had not written a
thank-you letter, around 83 percent had never
written
a love letter, and a quarter had not
even written a birthday or Christmas card. In
fact, 58 percent
of teenagers complained that
handwriting was “too slow” and 17 percent believed
it was “outdated”
These results have caused
worries that the art of handwriting may one day
die out, even though
many people
still think it is an important skill.
“Handwriting is one of the most creative art
forms we have and should be given the same
importance as other art forms such as
sketching(素描),painting,or photography,”Jonathan
Skyrme,
general manager of BIC UK &Ireland,
told the Daily Mail.
The New York Times
explained that a handwritten letter sends a
message in a way that online messages
can
never do. “When you get an e-mail, you can never
be sure that you are the only person to have
received it—or even that it was written by the
person who sent it,” said the newspaper.
As US
author Simon Garfield once wrote,“E-mails are a
poke(蜻蜒点水), but letters are a loving
touch.”
So imagine the powerful message you will send
if you actually write out your thoughts for
another
person by hand, buy a stamp, take your
note to a mailbox and wait days for your special
someone to
receive it. Their smile at your
thoughtfulness will say it all.
31. What can
we learn from Paragraph 2?
A. Most teenagers
hadn’t written a love letter.
B. The art of
handwriting may disappear one day.
C. 300
teenagers of today’s had never written a letter.
D. Over half teenagers thought handwriting was
out of date.
32. The New York Times and Simon
Garfield may both agree that_______.
A.
letters have some advantages over E-mails
B. letters and E-mails have their own advantages
C. Handwriting is as important as other art
forms
D. letters and E-mails send a message
in the same way
33. Which is true according to
the last paragraph?
A. It is funny to post a
letter. B. It’s boring to wait for a letter.
C. People are glad to receive a D. It’s a
waste of time to write a
letter. letter.

Marie Kondo
is an expert(专家)on organizing and cleaning. She is
considered an expert on clearing
away unused
or unnecessary things, known as clutter. She wrote
a book called “The Life-Changing Magic
of
Tidying Up”, which is a best-seller around the
world.
Marie Kondo says people can improve
their life by changing the way that they think
about all their
things—everything from books,
documents and photographs to clothing.
This is
not the first time an organizing expert has
written a book on clutter. Other books suggest
wonderful things will happen when you organize
your home. One book says that if you throw out 50
things from your home, you will truly find
your life. Another book says that if you make
clutter
disappear, you will also lose weight.
And still others promise a better job, more money
and a perfect
family if you simply organize
the things. Marie Kondo told the Business Insider
website that some
of her customers have lost
weight. “Your self-perception is improved by
living in a clean and tidy
room,” she said.
“This can change lifestyles and appearances.”
Marie Kondo teaches a method of organizing
that she calls KonMari. Ms.Kondo says KonMari
creates
a different relationship between you
and your things. If the object meant something to
you or served
you well, you thank it for its
service before throwing or giving it away. In her
book, Ms.Kondo suggests
that you touch the
item and ask one simple question, “Does it bring
me joy?”If it doesn’t, you give
it away so
that it may give joy to someone else.

Children with autism (自闭症) have difficulty
with social skills and communication. They often
behave in limited and repeated ways and have
unusual strong interests.
Autism is more
common in boys than girls. What causes it is not
clear. Scientists are studying
genes(基因) and
possible environmental influences.
Doctors
usually cannot confirm a diagnosis(诊断)of autism
until a child is about three years
old.
Rebecca Landa is a professor and researcher in
Maryland. Professor Landa wanted to find out what
differences in development might be seen
earlier. She led a new study that studied 235
babies between
six and 36 months of age.
“At six months of age, some signs of the
development of communication and social is slow,
like
when you lay your baby on their back and
you pull them by the arms gently into a seated
position,
it seems hard for the baby to
raise hisher head . That does not mean the baby is
going to have autism,
but it does mean the
baby needs to have some exercises. And when they
strengthen their body, they
are able to play
with toys and people and grow better.”
By the
time a baby is one year old, signs of possible
autism include difficulty in using words
and
not looking eye-to-eye or reaching out to other
people.
By 14 months, the baby might smile
less and use language less. However, Professor
Landa says these
signs can be so small that
they might be missed during a short health exam.
Professor Landa says, it’s important for
parents to care about their children’s
development.
The earlier parents notice signs,
the sooner they can begin doing simple things that
may help improve
their child’s development,
such as talking to the child about what they are
doing, and playing simple
games that keep the
child’s attention.
42. In which part could you
find this passage?
A. Education Report.
B. Health Report.
C. Entertainment Report.

of possible autism is a year and two months, he or
she may ________.
A. have trouble in using
words B. have difficulty in raising his
head
C. like reaching out to other peopleD.
communicate with others less
44. Which
of the following is right according to the
passage?
A. Children with autism don’t have
any interests.
B. The girls are more likely
to have autism than boys.
C. Scientists
haven’t clearly found out what causes autism yet.
D. A six-month baby who can’t raise head must

Here are some English learning tips to help you
improve your English.
Ask yourself weekly:
What do I want to learn this week?
Asking
yourself this question every week will help you
think about what is most important to you.
If
you make a plan for each week, you will be
surprised to notice how much you have improved
your
English by the end of the week! This
feeling of success will encourage you to learn
even more English.
Quickly review before going
to bed.
Research has shown that our brains
process(加工) information that is fresh in our
brains while
we sleep. By going over important
knowledge before you go to sleep, your brain will
work on this
information while you sleep!
Speak English aloud.
Understanding grammar
rules does not mean you can speak English well.
You need to practice speaking
aloud. Speaking
by yourself at home and reading the exercises that
you are doing will help connect
the
muscles(肌肉)of your face to the information in your
head and improve your pronunciation.
Do
five to ten minutes of listening at least four
times a week.
If you decide that you are
going to work hard and listen for two hours, maybe
you will not do extra
listening exercises
soon. But if you listen five to ten minutes at
least four times a week, you will
find it’s
not so hard to develop the habit of listening to
English.
Look for situations to practice your
English.
Learning English in a classroom is
important, but using English in real situations
will improve
your English skills greatly. You
can create new situations by using the Internet to
listen to news,
exchange emails in English

us
to learn English well. They can not only
open our minds but also make our school life
colourful.
We’ve learned many wonderful
things in the world in our textbooks, which help

cultures around the world and grow into an
excellent person. Some famous
people we’ve
learned affect us a lot.
My favorite one is
Audrey Hepburn, a great American successful
actress, who devoted much of her
time and
money to charity. I’ve learned a lot from her.

You might think
that Olympic athletes are the healthiest people in
the world. It’s true that
many are. However,
it’s also true that many Olympic athletes had to
overcome illnesses early in their
lives.
One excellent example is Wilma Rudolph. She
competed in track-and-field events in the 1960
Olympics.
She didn’t win just one gold medal.
She won three. At the time, people called her “the
fastest woman
in the world.”
As a young
child, Wilma could not take part in sports. She
had a series of serious illnesses,
and then,
at the age of 4, she got polio. She lost the use
of her left leg, and the doctor said she
would
never walk again.
The people in Wilma’s
family did everything they could to help her walk
again. Wilma and her
mother often traveled 100
miles to get treatments for her leg. Her brothers
and sisters took turns
giving her leg a daily
massage. Four times a day, they helped her do
special exercises for her leg.
Amazingly, by
the time Wilma was 9 years old, she was able to
walk again. Before long, she started
playing
basketball and running. In high school, she was a
track star and then she went to the Olympics.
Wilma stopped being a runner when she was 22
years old. She then became a teacher and track
coach.
Her story encouraged many people to
work hard and to overcome difficulties.

will live in
the future beyond what has been possible in the
past. “There is a great push so that
people
can live from 120 to 180 years,” he said. “Some
have suggested that there is no limit and
that
people could live to 200 or 300 or 500 years.”
However, many scientists who study in ageing
are doubtful about it and say the human body is
just
not designed to last past about 120
years. Even with healthier lifestyles and less
disease, they say
failure of the brain and
organs will finally lead all humans to death.
Scientists also differ on what kind of life
the super aged might live. “It remains to be seen
if you pass 120, you know; could you be
healthy enough to have good quality of life?” said
Leonard
Pooh, director of the University of
Georgia Gerontology Centre. “At present people who
could get
to that point are not in good health
at all.”

When did you last see a polar bear? On a trip
to a zoo, perhaps? If you had attended a winter
activity in New York a few years ago, you
would have seen a whole polar bear club. These
“Polar Bears”
are people who meet frequently
in the winter to swim in freezing cold water. That
day, the air
temperature was 3℃, and the water
temperature was a bit higher. The members of the
Polar Bear Club
at Coney Island, New York are
usually about the age of 60. Members must satisfy
two requirements.
First, they must get along
well with everyone else in the group. This is very
important because there
are so many different
kinds of people in the club. Polar Bears must also
agree to swim outdoors at
least twice a month
from November through February.
Doctors do
not agree about the medical effects of cold-water
swimming. Some are worried about
the dangers
of a condition in which the body’s temperature
drops so low that finally the heart stops.
Other doctors, however, point out that there
is more danger of a heart attack during summer
swimming
because the difference between the
air temperature and water temperature is much
greater in summer
than in winter.
The
Polar Bears themselves are satisfied with the
benefits of cold-water swimming. They say that
their favorite form of exercise is very good
for the circulatory system(循环系统) because it forces
the blood to move fast to keep the body warm.
Cold-water swimmers usually turn bright red after
a
few minutes in the water. A person who turns
blue probably has a very poor circulatory system
and
should not try cold-water swimming.
The main benefits of cold-water swimming are
probably mental. The Polar Bears love to swim
year-round; they find it fun and relaxing. As
one 70-year-old woman says. “When I go into the
water,
I pour my troubles into the ocean and
let them float away.”
36. The members of the
Polar Bear Club must meet the following
requirements except that .
A. they
must reach the age of 60
B. they should be
easy to make friends with
C. they must
swim outdoors at least 8 times in the four cold
months
D. they must agree to swim outdoors
from November through February
37. Doctors
.
A. believe swimming is helpful both in
winter and in summer
B. encourage people to
take part in cold-water swimming actively
C.
have different ideas about the medical effects of
cold-water swimming
D. point out the possible
danger of blood illness during cold-water swimming
38. According to the passage, some doctors
believe it is true that .
A. Polar
Bears are bears swimming in freezing water
B.
you are healthy if cold-water swimming turns your
skin color blue
C. cold-water swimming can
make the body temperature dangerously high
D.
cold-water swimming causes more heart attacks in
summer than in winter
39. The Polar Bears like

A.
they can remain young B. they find it enjoyable
and interesting
C. they might meet fewer
troubles in life D. they can keep warm in winter
easily

.

Smog is a big problem in many Chinese
cities. Chai Jing, a former news hostess with
CCTV, discussed
it in her documentary Under
the Dome (穹顶之下).
The 103-minute film was
published on websites on Feb 28, 2015. In the
film, Chai visits polluted
places and talks to
officials and scientists. She concludes that
burning too much coal and oil is
the main
cause of PM2.5 and smog.
To make things worse,
according to Chai, the coal and oil we are burning
is of poor quality and
don’t meet the
standards for environmental protection. Therefore
they have produced more harmful
gas and
particles (颗粒) to pollute the air.
To solve
the problem, Chai suggests that factories should
clean our coal and oil, or replace them
with
cleaner energy.
In her film, Chai also thought
that ordinary people can do something to help
control smog too.
For example, we can live a
greener life by using more public transportation.
Or if we see something
that could harm the
environment, we can try to stop it.
What can

The first robots were invented in the 1920s.
Robots have appeared
in many American films.
In some films, they are stronger, faster and
cleverer than people.
In real life, robots
are mainly used in factories. They do some
dangerous and difficult jobs for humans.
Robots also help disabled people, for example,
blind people. Today many blind people have a guide
dog to help them. In the future, guide dogs
might be robot dogs.
One kind of robot guide
dog has wheels. It moves in front of the owner. It
is very clever. It
knows the speed of its
owner’s walk. The owner wears a special belt (带子).
This belt sends instructions
to the owner from
the dog, such as “Stop here”, “Turn left” or “Turn
right”.
In the United States, another kind of
robot helps disabled people to take care of
themselves in
their daily life. The robot
hears the sound of its owner’s voice. It follows
instructions such as
“Turn the page” or “Make
a cup of coffee”.
Robots are also used in
American hospitals. They can do simple jobs. At
one hospital, for example,
a robot takes meals
from the kitchen to patients’ rooms. It never gets
lost because this robot has
a map of the
hospital in its computer memory.
Though robots
can help people in many different ways, they will
never take the place of humans.

Dragon Boat Festival
Dragon Boat
Festival, also called Duanwu Festival, is
celebrated on lunar May
5th. For thousands of
years, the festival has been marked by eating Zong
Zi and
racing dragon boats. In order to
remember Qu Yuan, one of the greatest poets
in
China, people hold the dragon boat races every
year. That is the origins(起
源) of this
festival.
Qu Yuan was born in Zigui of Hubei
Province over 2,200 years ago. Qu Yuan was an
honest official(官
员) of the state of Chu,
during the Warring States Period (475-221 BC)
(战国时期). He was upright(正
直的) and wise. He
wanted to bring his country peace and make the
state stronger, but the country
was in the
hands of bad officials, so he failed. At last, he
was very disappointed. He ended his life
by
throwing himself into the Miluo River. It was said
people jumped from boats into the river and
tried to save him. But it was too late. Also,
they were very sad. They threw rice into the water
to
feed the dragons in the river. They hoped
that the dragons would eat Zong Zi instead of the
poet’s
body.
Now we often read his poem Li
Sao which is filled with deep love for his
country. We can see the
dragon boat
races and have a kind of Chinese food named Zong
Zi during the Dragon Boat Festival.

The Smallest Life Around Us
Tiny
plants and animals live all around us. We cannot
see them because they are so small, but
they
are everywhere. They live in the soil,in the
air,and in rivers and oceans. They grow on
mountains
and in caves. Some live in the ice at
the north and south poles; some live where it is
very hot. They
are found throughout cities and
in the country. They grow on other plants and
animals.Some are even
living on you,on your
skin,hair,and inside your body,in your
mouth,nose,and all through your
body.21cnjy
These tiny plants and animals are
called microbes. The word microbe is made from two
other words:
micro,meaning small,and
bios,meaning life.So,microbe means small life.
Microbes have been on earth for a very long
time. They may have been the first forms of life to
be alive.Today there are more microbes in the
world than all other living things.
People did
not know microbes had existed(存在)long. They were
too small for them to see.But
people did see
many changes in their world﹣important changes. And
they did not know what caused
them.They saw
food that they kept too long change color and
begin to smell bad. They saw cuts and
wounds
grow red and painful and become worse. They saw
old plants and leaves and trees crumble apart
on the forest floor and disappear into the
soil.Such changes were a natural part of the
world,
but people did not understand them. They
did not know these changes were evidence(证据) of
tiny plants
and animals growing all around
them.
( ) couldn't people see microbes?

For years people
have enjoyed following the life of Garfield the
cat. Garfield
is a popular comic book
character, known for being lazy and fat. But the
cat was
back in the news recently for
something you might not expect.
A man in the
United States changed the gender (性别) of Garfield
to “none” on
the cat’s Wikipedia (维基百科) page.
After that lots of people got angry and kept
changing Garfield’s Wikipedia page. They
argued about whether the cat was a boy, girl or
neither.
Wikipedia finally locked the page
to stop people editing it. Jim Davis, Garfield’s
creator, settled
(解决) the argument.
“Garfield is male,” he simply told the Washington
Post. The 71-year-old artist said he liked
working with animals because they didn’t have
to be old, young, boys or girls. He was angry that
some people cared so much about Garfield’s
gender.
It seems like quite an unnecessary
argument to have. But it is not the only recent
example of argument
about gender.
To
celebrate International Women’s Day in Australia
earlier this year, the city of Melbourne made
10 traffic lights with a figure (人形) dressed
in a skirt. They were designed to celebrate women
and
give them more confidence in public.
But not everyone thinks the idea is necessary.
Some people think it is important for women to be
treated fairly in Australia, but that this
idea is silly.
“I’m all for doing anything
we can for gender equity (公平), but really?”
Melbourne mayor (市
长) Robert Doyle told
the Herald Sun. The mayor said this idea is more
likely to be laughed at than
bring respect to
women.

You might think
that Olympic athletes are the healthiest people in
the world. It’s true that
many are. However,
it’s also true that many Olympic athletes had to
overcome illnesses early in their
lives.
One excellent example is Wilma Rudolph. She
competed in track-and-field events in the 1960
Olympics.
She didn’t win just one gold medal.
She won three. At the time, people called her “the
fastest woman
in the world.”
As a young
child, Wilma could not take part in sports. She
had a series of serious illnesses,
and then,
at the age of 4, she got polio. She lost the use
of her left leg, and the doctor said she
would
never walk again.
The people in Wilma’s
family did everything they could to help her walk
again. Wilma and her
mother often traveled 100
miles to get treatments for her leg. Her brothers
and sisters took turns
giving her leg a daily
massage. Four times a day, they helped her do
special exercises for her leg.
Amazingly, by
the time Wilma was 9 years old, she was able to
walk again. Before long, she started
playing
basketball and running. In high school, she was a
track star and then she went to the Olympics.
Wilma stopped being a runner when she was 22
years old. She then became a teacher and track
coach.
Her story encouraged many people to

Do you want to
live another 100 years or more? Some experts say
that scientific advances will
one day enable
humans to last tens of years beyond what is now
seen as the natural limit of the human
life
span.
“I think we are knocking at the door of
immortality(永生),” said Michael Zey, a Montclair
State
University business professor and author
of two books on the future. “I think by 2075 we
will see
it and that’s a conservative
estimate(保守的估计).”
At the conference in San
Francisco, Donald Louria, a professor at New
Jersey Medical School in
Newark said advances
in using genes as well as nanotechnology(纳米技术)
make it likely that humans
D. 5.
28.
According to the passage, how many ways can
visitors get the ticket?
will live in
the future beyond what has been possible in the
past. “There is a great push so that
people
can live from 120 to 180 years,” he said. “Some
have suggested that there is no limit and
that
people could live to 200 or 300 or 500 years.”
However, many scientists who study in ageing
are doubtful about it and say the human body is
just
not designed to last past about 120
years. Even with healthier lifestyles and less
disease, they say
failure of the brain and
organs will finally lead all humans to death.
Scientists also differ on what kind of life
the super aged might live. “It remains to be seen
if you pass 120, you know; could you be
healthy enough to have good quality of life?” said
Leonard
Pooh, director of the University of
Georgia Gerontology Centre. “At present people who
could get
to that point are not in good health
at all.”
32. By saying “we are knocking at the
door of immortality”, Michael Zey means .
A. they believe that there is no limit of
living
B. they have got some ideas about
living forever
C. they are sure to find the
truth about long living
D. they are able to
make people live past the present life span
33. Donald Louria’s attitude towards long
living is that .
A. people can only
live from 120 to 180
B. it is still doubtful
how long humans can live

When did you last see a polar bear? On a trip
to a zoo, perhaps? If you had attended a winter
activity in New York a few years ago, you
would have seen a whole polar bear club. These
“Polar Bears”
are people who meet frequently
in the winter to swim in freezing cold water. That
day, the air
temperature was 3℃, and the water
temperature was a bit higher. The members of the
Polar Bear Club
at Coney Island, New York are
usually about the age of 60. Members must satisfy
two requirements.
First, they must get along
well with everyone else in the group. This is very
important because there
are so many different
kinds of people in the club. Polar Bears must also
agree to swim outdoors at
least twice a month
from November through February.
Doctors do
not agree about the medical effects of cold-water
swimming. Some are worried about
the dangers
of a condition in which the body’s temperature
drops so low that finally the heart stops.
Other doctors, however, point out that there
is more danger of a heart attack during summer
swimming
because the difference between the
air temperature and water temperature is much
greater in summer
than in winter.
The
Polar Bears themselves are satisfied with the
benefits of cold-water swimming. They say that
their favorite form of exercise is very good
for the circulatory system(循环系统) because it forces
the blood to move fast to keep the body warm.
Cold-water swimmers usually turn bright red after
a
few minutes in the water. A person who turns
blue probably has a very poor circulatory system
and
should not try cold-water swimming.
The main benefits of cold-water swimming are
probably mental. The Polar Bears love to swim
year-round; they find it fun and relaxing. As
one 70-year-old woman says. “When I go into the
water,
I pour my troubles into the ocean and
let them float away.”
36. The members of the
Polar Bear Club must meet the following
requirements except that .
A. they
must reach the age of 60
B. they should be
easy to make friends with
C. they must
swim outdoors at least 8 times in the four cold
months
D. they must agree to swim outdoors
from November through February
37. Doctors
.
A. believe swimming is helpful both in
winter and in summer
B. encourage people to
take part in cold-water swimming actively
C.
have different ideas about the medical effects of
cold-water swimming
D. point out the possible
danger of blood illness during cold-water swimming
38. According to the passage, some doctors
believe it is true that .
A. Polar
Bears are bears swimming in freezing water
B.
you are healthy if cold-water swimming turns your
skin color blue
C. cold-water swimming can
make the body temperature dangerously high
D.
cold-water swimming causes more heart attacks in
summer than in winter
39. The Polar Bears like
to swim all the year round, for .
A.
they can remain young B. they find it enjoyable
and interesting
C. they might meet fewer
troubles in life D. they can keep warm in winter
easily
40. The passage is mainly about
.
A. the Polar Bears’ life in New York B.
the requirements of the Polar Bear Club

Smog is a big problem in many Chinese
cities. Chai Jing, a former news hostess with
CCTV, discussed
it in her documentary Under
the Dome (穹顶之下).
The 103-minute film was
published on websites on Feb 28, 2015. In the
film, Chai visits polluted

officials and scientists. She concludes that
burning too much coal and oil is
the main
cause of PM2.5 and smog.
To make things worse,
according to Chai, the coal and oil we are burning

To solve

with
cleaner energy.
In her film, Chai also thought
that ordinary people can do something to help
control smog too.
For example, we can live a

Premier Li Keqiang has put the
National Reading in his government work report to
encourage a love
of reading in all Chinese
people.
However, some Chinese people seldom
read in their spare time. Some say that they are
too busy
to do some reading, others think that
it’s useless to read.
But I think reading is
important in our life because we can get knowledge
through reading. It
can not only open our
minds but also make us wiser. And at the same time
you can get great fun from
reading.
So,
I’m going to pay more for books, magazines and
other kinds of reading materials. And I will
also spend more time in reading every day.

Every year
many young people leave school for a few weeks or
months and enjoy an unusual type of
educational program. They learn new skills by
living in a different country and doing unusual
jobs.
There are several organizations. They
help students to find the experience they are
looking for. The

One interesting possibility is helping
elephants in Thailand. Most people think of
elephants as
animals in zoos. In fact, many
elephants in Thailand are no longer kept in cages.
Now, hundreds of
them are homeless. They don’t
have owners to care for them. Although they may
look well, they are
often in poor health and
don’t have enough to eat.
One center in
Thailand cares for these elephants. It gives them
a safe and natural living space.
When they are
at the center, they stay in a building but are
free to walk around. Students come from
all
over the world to help here. The student helpers
work with the elephant keepers. These keepers
train the students in caring for the
elephants. In the morning, they go to the forest
together and
lead the elephants to the center.
They clean them and give them food. In the
afternoon. They take
the animals back into the
forest for the night. Helping at the center is
interesting and the young
people learn a lot.

Having a teenager at home can be a
real headache. Many teenagers smoke, drink and
even fight.
They often do something dangerous.
Earlier studies have shown that teenagers are
more likely (可能) to make irrational decisions
than people from any other age group,
including children and adults. Is it that
teenagers are too
young to tell right from
wrong? Not really. So what’s the reason?
According to Laurence, a teacher from a US
university, the reason is that teenagers care a
lot
about how their peers (同龄人) view
them—that is “peer influence”.
As children
enter their teenage years, they spend more time
with their friends and classmates,
and also
they care more about what they think of them. This
makes teenagers make decisions without
thinking about the costs.
In a test, a
group of teenagers were asked to play a video
driving game. When they played with
their
friends watching around them, they took more
chances and drove more carelessly because that
would increase their possibility of winning.
But when they played alone, they drove more
safely.
Why do peers have such a big
influence on teens’ behavior?
As Laurence
sees it, a teenager’s brain is like a car with a
good accelerator (油门) but a weak
brake (刹车).
The “accelerator” is fully developed by teenage
years while the “brake” is still
not fully
developed. When teenagers are watched by their
peers, they usually push hard on the
accelerator. With their weak brake, it is
likely that they are going to end up in an
accident.
But the good news is that a
violent (暴力的)teenager doesn’t necessarily become a
violent adult.
About two-thirds to three-
quarters of violent youth grow out of it. “They
get more self-controlled.”
nd
53. What
does the underlined word “irrational” in the 2
paragraph mean?
A. Quick. B. Crazy.
C. Careful.
54. Why are teenagers likely to
make wrong decisions according to the text?
A. They like difficult tasks.
B. They don’t
care about costs.
C. They care a lot about
what their peers think of them.
55. How does
Laurence explain the influence of peer pressure on
teens’ behavior?
A. By comparing it with
how a car works.
B. By comparing it with an
accident.
C. By showing research findings.
56. What can we learn from the text?
A.
Teenagers are easy to have traffic accidents.
B. Peer influence is bad on teenagers.
C.
Most of the teenagers become less violent when
they grow up.

I am walking through the winter park
where the trees stand cold and bare (光秃秃的). The
yellow
leaves have fallen to the ground. Now,
a group of women gather at the sides of a path. In
the cold
winter, they’re moving their arms and
legs to a rhythm (节奏). They are, of course, the
dancing aunties.
It seems that if you go to
any public space around China, you’re likely to
see these dancing aunties.
When I first came
to China, it was one of the first things that
annoyed me. That’s because in Britain
dancing
in public is not a cultural habit. You won’t see
any age group swinging their arms and tapping
their feet in a park. Usually, they just take
a walk for exercise.
Now and again the dancing
aunties have hit the headlines (头条新闻). Some people
find them annoying.
But others respect their
right to dance in public. Most of them are middle-
aged. They finally have
some free time to do
whatever they like. There is no more work, and
their kids have left.
All in all, I like
seeing these women enjoying themselves. They
remind us of the importance of
exercise as we
get older. Besides, most of them have raised the
whole families. Now it is their time
to have
fun and enjoy some peace.
The Dancing Aunties in the Cold Winter
What
can you see in the cold winter?

第三节 回答问题(共4小题;每小题2分,满分8分)阅读下面的短文,然后根据短文内容回答问题
,并
在答题卡上将答案填写在对应题号的横线上。
It may be really
hard to tell others that you’re feeling sad or
worried. If you keep these feelings
in your
heart and don’t talk about them with others, you
will even fall ill at last.
If you talk with
someone, who cares a lot about you, like your dad
or mom, you may feel better.
You’re not alone
with your problems or worries. But if a kid
doesn’t want to talk with his or her
Dad or
Mom, what should he or she do? It’s better to find
another trusty(可信的)adult ,like a teacher
at
school. Maybe this person can help you talk with
your Dad or Mom about your problems.
Once
you know who you can talk to, you should choose
when and where to talk. If you think it’s
difficult for you to say what you think, write
it down on a piece of paper. If the person can’t
understand what you mean right away, try to
say it in a different way or give an example.
Some kids may feel shy about sharing their
feelings. But it is important to share their
feelings
when they need help.
62. Is it
good for people to keep feelings in the heart?
63. What can you do when you feel sad or
worried?
64. What should a kid do if he or she doesn’t
want to talk with his or her Dad or Mom?
65. How do some kids feel when they share
their feelings?

often their mum or dad. This may be a good idea
for you
to feel that you are not 18 . It
reminds you that home and the people you love are
19 still
there and that you will see them
soon. However, it can make the homesickness even
20 . By talking
to people from home, it can
make you miss them more! It can make you want to
be home even more and
make you realise 21
you miss your loved ones. For this very reason,
some people find 22 better
not to contact
home but to let the feeling pass by doing fun
activities. This can not only work as
a good
way to 23 lonely feelings that homesickness
can cause, but can also work well towards
helping you get used to the place which you
are living or staying in. Reminding yourself that
where
you are can make you see the bigger
picture; that home is great, but where I am right
now is also
great 24 different reasons!
In German there is a(n) 25 which is quite
opposite to homesickness and that is ‘Fernweh’.
This means the feeling of wanting to get away
and see new places.

My best buddy
I met you seven years ago

The young turtle has been
swimming for three months now in the same warm
shallow
bay, dreaming of calm water and plenty
of food. But as the days begin to shorten
and
the night comes earlier and earlier, the water
grows colder. It drops to fifty
degrees
Fahrenheit(华氏). Swimming is harder. Its heartbeat
slows—and
almost stops. The young turtle is in
danger of losing its life.
Ten days before
Thanksgiving, Max Nolan, a ten-year-old boy, and
his mother
begin their patrol. The Nolans are
among volunteers who walk Cape Cod’s beaches
during November and
December to search for
turtles who are often cold and trapped and seem
dead—turtles whose lives they
may be able to
save.
Max and his mother and the other
volunteers do an important job. All sea turtles
are threatened
or endangered. Among them
Kemp’s ridleys are the most endangered. Right now
on our planet there are
fewer than eight
thousand Kemp’s ridley turtles left.
Max is
far in front of his mother when he sees a turtle
washed up by the surf. He runs up to it
and
shouts to his mom, “Got one!” The turtle is cold.
Its eyes are open, but the turtle is not moving
at all. It might be dead or still alive.
Max remembers the instructions given to all
the volunteers. He picks up the turtle, which
weighs
about five pounds, and moves it above
the high-tide mark to keep it from washing out to
sea. Then
he runs to find seaweed to protect
it from the wind. He finds a stick to mark where
it is, and next,
he and his mother go to the
nearest telephone and call the sea-turtle hot line
for help.
29. The young turtle is in danger of
losing its life because ________.
A. it has
been swimming for three months
B. it dreams
of calm water and plenty of food
C. the
water drops to fifty degrees Fahrenheit
D.
the days get longer and the nights come earlier
30. The underlined word “Patrol” in Paragraph
2 probably means ________.
A. swimming in
the sea B. travelling to the
seaside
C. enjoying Thanksgiving
with others D. walking along the beaches for
turtles
31. In order to prevent the turtle
from washing out to sea, Max ________.
A.
runs to find seaweed B. calls the sea-turtle
hot line
C. finds a stick to mark
where it is D. moves it above the high-tide
mark

April will bring a new product –
the Apple Watch – into the market. Last
week,
the watch was firstly introduced by Tim Cook,
Apple's CEO. The price
of the watch will
differ from $$349 to $$1,099, depending on its size,
strap
and whether it is a sports or regular
version.
Apple engineers and designers have
put in a lot of thought and hard work
into
creating this screenon your wrist(手腕). The on the
screen not only detects your finger, but knows
the difference between when you are tapping, and
when
you are pressing harder.
The
watch also has “haptic feedback(触觉反馈)”. You can
send personal messages to your friend
- such
as drawing a star or a special sign with your
fingers, or tapping the watch, say 3 times, and
your friend will receive those taps on their
wrist.
Besides telling the time, the watch
will use 'bluetooth' to connect with your iPhone
and show calls
or text messages that come in.
According to Tim Cook, the watch may open up a
whole new area of applications that we had never
thought of. Some car factories like BMW have
developed an app that allows its car owners to
open
their cars with the watch. A 'Hotels' app
may allow you to open the door to your hotel room
without
worrying about losing the smart-card.
And finally, even airlines are jumping in -
passengers may be
able to simply wave their
wrist to check into their flight.
The biggest
use of the watch, however, is as your personal
fitness coach. The watch can measure
your
pulse (heartbeat) using a sensor at the bottom of
the watch. It also has the same
as your
iPhone, so it knows when you are moving, and also
how much you are walking or running. It
will
remind you if you have been sitting for too long
without much activity.
Many stores are
planning to stop selling the Nike, Jawbone and
FitBit devices(设备) to welcome the
Apple Watch.
Will Apple Watch really replace these devices and
make fitness much more fun?
32. We can learn

C. sells
at different prices for different colours
D. will come into the market this coming April

As Keira
climbed into bed, she thought about tomorrow’s
field trip. Her class
was going to a
presentation by a West African traditional
storyteller. Keira was
excited because she was
of West African descent. Her great-grandmother had
come to
the United States from Senegal, a
country in West Africa. Until now, Keira hadn’t
thought much about her roots(根源).
Early
the next morning, Keira looked everywhere for
something to show her West
African roots. She
dug through every drawer, but she couldn’t find
anything that
really stood out. Finally, she
put on a white shirt and jeans. Although she wore
ordinary clothes,
she hoped that her interest
in her West African roots would not go unnoticed.
At the community center, Keira was lucky
enough to get a front-row seat. The first speaker
talked
about African writers and how they
often use traditional stories with traditional
characters, such
as the Tortoise and the
Spider. The speaker mentioned writers her mother
and grandmother liked! Also,
Tortoise was a
favorite character in Keira’s bedtime stories.
Finally, the speaker mentioned Doudou
N’Diaye
Rose. He was Keira’s favorite drummer. He was from
Senegal. She began to realise just how
much
her West African roots influenced her American
life.
Finally, the storyteller came up. He
told a story that explained how the chameleon, a
small
lizard(蜥蜴), changed its colors. Then he
introduced the Spider and Tortoise. It was known
that they
appeared to be generous but in fact
they wanted to keep everything for themselves.
Some of the stories
made these characters seem
poor as they fought for every last piece. However,
they were simply
naughty(调皮的). They certainly
did learn their lessons!
Keira couldn’t keep
her mind from thinking about all the different
stories her mother had told.
Her memory was
pouring out again! She knew about everything the
storyteller said.
After the presentation, the
class talked to the storyteller. Keira told about
how her
great-grandmother had moved to the
United States from Senegal. Her great-grandmother
left her village
because of a famine, a time
of hunger. She had explained to Keira’s
grandmother that the villagers
spent days
begging for food. Her great-grandmother finally
came to the United States. Keira told the
storyteller about those of her bedtime
stories.
When Keira was finished, the
storyteller pointed out that she had just done his
job. She had
described her family and the
stories they told. Keira could hardly wait to tell
her mother and
grandmother the news!

evening of the day before.
A. nervous

37. Keria wore ordinary clothes that
day because ________.
A. the clothes made
her stand out
B. they were her favourite
clothes
C. she didn’t find anything with
West African roots
D. she didn’t want to
show others her West African roots
38.
________ was a favourite character in Keria’s West
African traditional stories.
A. Tortoise
B. Spider C. Lizard D. Chamelon
39. The underlined word “famine” in Paragraph
5 most probably means a time short of ________.
A. money B. food C. water

Easter is
one of a group of days on which Christians (基督徒)
remember the life of Jesus. On Good
Friday
they remember his death. On Easter they celebrate
Jesus’ rising from the dead.
It’s a
special, happy time for kids, just 51
Christmas. There are cute rabbits 52 . This
is because for many centuries rabbits have
been symbols of life. Rabbits have lots of babies
and so
they seem right for Easter. There’s
even an “Easter Bunny (复活节兔子)”, an Easter version
of Santa
Claus.
Eggs are 53 too.
An egg can be the start of new life. At Easter,
kids wake up to find their
moms and dads have
given them chocolate eggs with candy inside. They
also have fun 54 eggs.
The best thing
is the “Easter egg hunt”. This is when parents,
neighbors, sometimes the whole
community, hide
eggs in different places. They leave clues, such
as a poster which tells kids where
they can
find the eggs. They have to 55 until they find
them. It’s so much fun that you wonder
why
they only do it at Easter.

Do
you understand “OMG” when you receive a piece of
text message like this? Its meaning is “oh
my
god”. Have you seen Brb (be right back), gr8
(great), cya (see you)–it’s a lot easier to use
abbreviations (缩写) when we text, isn’t it? But
while we might think nothing of it, there’s an
ongoing discussion that text messaging can
have a bad influence on people’s grammar. Many
believe
the abbreviations are giving students
bad habits when it comes to spelling and
punctuation (标点).
Some teachers say that
texting and social networking cause students to be
lazy when writing. A
study showed that young
adults who often use text messaging find it rather
difficult to turn back
to correct grammar when
needed.
But another view is that text
messaging has no influence at all. Many people
consider it to be
a language of its own. We
could compare it to a foreign language which
students learn. This doesn’t
have any
influence on their native language.
Whether it’s bad or not, it seems that text
language is becoming very popular. According to
another
study, 64 percent of teens said they
used informal (非正式的) “text language” in their
writing.
But it’s not just a matter of
language. Students who text a lot during class may
have difficulty
paying attention. In another
study, students were asked to complete a
questionnaire on how many text
messages they
sent and received during class. On average,
students sent more than two text messages
during classes lasting 50 to 75 minutes. The
study showed that students who often text during
classes
can’t easily keep their attention on
the lesson, which will surely harm their learning.
Topic: Use
abbreviation 56 texting
Students sent
more than two text messages during classes lasting
50 to
75 minutes.
Facts
A study
showed 57 percent of teenagers used text
language in their
writing.
Text messaging
can have a bad influence on people.
Abbreviations are bad for students’ 59 and
punctuation use.
Students become 60
because of texting and social networking.
Young adults find it hard to return to correct
grammar once they have
got 61 to
abbreviating.
58
It is 62 for
those who text a lot to pay attention in class.
Text messaging can hardly influence people.
It is considered as a language.
It
could be 63 to a foreign language which
students learn.
Using abbreviations can
make it 64 to send text messages.
Conclusion
No matter it’s good or bad,
“text language” is becoming more and more

Ladies and gentlemen, I
returned to this year in a time machine. In the
year 2500,we are able
to travel through time
to any year in the history of the earth. This year
is your last chance to change
your lifestyle
to save the earth.
Beginning in the middle
of the 20th century, a few people were worried
about polluting the earth's
water and air,but
most people did not change their way of life.
Instead, they continued to
pour(倒)dangerous
chemicals(化学物品)and other waste into lakes and
seas,to drive more and more cars
and
trucks,and to cut down trees.
By the year
2200,the earth's water was completely polluted.
People could no longer drink water,
and they
had to use other types of liquids(液体).Scientists
said that in the future there might be
too
many people on the earth. But not enough was
done.
So by the year 2300,there were so
many people that food became scarce. There was no
water to
grow food and all of the fish in
lakes and seas died because of pollution. Terrible
wars broke out
between the rich and the poor.
Scientists were working very hard to find another
planet in space where
humans could live on.
By the year 2400,the air was too polluted
for humans to breathe. So we had to leave the
earth.
But only the rich were able to leave.
Where did we go? Nowhere. You see scientists did
not find another
safe planet,so now we must
travel around the universe in our space ships. We
are still looking for
a place to call our
home.
So it is up to you to change
history. There is still hope. You must change your
lifestyle now,
before it is too late.
