最新中考英语英语阅读理解练习题(附答案)

一、英语阅读理解专项练习试卷
1.阅读理解

To: Carla@yahoo. com

Subject: Help!

Dear Aunt Carla,

I'm having a problem with my classmate, Joan, at school. The other day I wrote an email to
another classmate, Beth, in which I said something about Joan that perhaps wasn't very nice.
Unluckily, when Beth was writing back to me, she sent it to Joan@163. com, which is Joan's
email address! Now Joan is really angry with me and won't talk to me, and Beth is unhappy as
well. She has said sorry to me a hundred times already, but the harm is done. I feel bad,
because I would never have said those things to Joan's face, but how do I get her to forgive(谅
解)me? What should I do?

To:Eric@163. com

Subject: Some advice

Dear Eric,

This problem is more common than you might think! Email is very useful, but also very
dangerous, as you don't know where your message might end up! First of all, you should say
sorry right away to Joan. Explain that it was a mistake, and that you didn't mean to hurt her
feelings. It may take time for her to be able to forgive you, but that's up to her. Then you might
want to do something nice for her. Perhaps send her some flowers to show that you're truly
sorry. Also, you should remember that old saying:
say anything at all.

Carla

A. In one day. B. In two days. C. In a week. D. In a month.

(4)Carla gave pieces of advice to Eric.

信,所以是一天内回复,故选A。

(3)细节题。根据but how do I get her to forgive(谅解)me? What should I do?我应该怎样
做,可知Eric寻求帮助建议,故选B。

(4)细节题。根据First of all, you should say sorry right away to Joan. Explain that it was a

Mark, a young person, tells me he wants to be a writer. I always encourage such people, but I
also explain that there's a big difference between a writerand writing. In most cases
these people are dreaming of wealth and fame, not the long hours alone at a typewriter(打字
机).

The reality is that writing is a lonely, private and poor-paying affair. For every writer kissed by
fortune there are thousands more whose longing is never rewarded(报答). When I left a 20-year
job in the US Coast Guard to become a writer, I had no hopes at all.

What I did have was a friend who found me my room in a New York apartment building. It
didn't even matter that it was cold and had no bathroom. I immediately bought a used typewriter
and felt like a real writer.

After a year or so, however, I still hadn't got a break and began to doubt (MWE ) myself. It was
so hard to sell a story that barely made enough to eat. But I knew I wanted to write. I had
dreamed about it for years. I wasn't going to be one of those people who die wonder in

I would keep putting my dream to the test-even though it meant living with uncertainty(不确定)
and fear of failure. This is the shadowland of hope, and anyone with a dream must learn to live
there.

university days. They were on economics(经济学), a subject that I didn't really like much then.

I laughed at the silly mistakes I made as I looked through the papers. And memories of the past
came to my mind. I saw myself sitting at one of the study tables, working hard for some of my life
goals. Back then, it was popular for most students to set life goals, because they thought it was
most important.

It was during those times that I first started to set goals for myself. I didn't know much about
goal setting then. I didn't use any goal tracking(跟踪) tools, either. All I knew was that I had to go

missed the school lock-out hours and I had to climb school gates in order to leave. It was perhaps
this attitude(态度) that ignited my decision to go through what I had to do to get this far.

Yes, it may have been hard. But the sweet taste of victory experienced at the point of receiving
my final results was so wonderful that I would never forget it for the rest of my life.
