Drinking green tea is known to
be good for us. Some people suggest drinking 2 —3
cups of it a day, and I would say at least one
is highly advisable.
As many people
know, tea is filled with powerful antioxidants
(抗氧化剂) that will
help stop free radicals
(自由基). Free radicals are harmful to our systems in
that they
can cause cell (细胞) and DNA change,
even cell death, and can lead to cancer.
Green tea has been drunk throughout Thailand,
China, India and Japan for centuries.
It is
known in these places to improve digestion (消化力)
and mental clearness and to
lower one’s blood
sugar. It’s also known to help control bleeding,
so that injuries
are cured more quickly. Some
studies even suggest that drinking green tea on a
regular basis can help a person lose
weight, because green tea can help a person
feel fuller throughout the day with its
pleasant smell and taste, and just taking the
time to smell it can help ease one’s hunger.
In short, both studies of green tea and
its history show that it is a great thing
to
drink for your health.

following can cause DNA change and even cell
death?
A. DNA change.

As children enter their teens, they usually begin
to pay more attention to their
peers (同龄人) or
friends. Peer pressure can be direct or indirect,
but it is almost
always present. Learning to
deal with peer pressure makes a teen mature (成熟的),
and
able to get along well with others.
Bad peer pressure is when teens feel pressured to
do something that they know is
wrong, such as
smoking, drinking, or drugs (毒品), and it can
remain with them into
adulthood. This is the
main reason teens have to learn how to deal with
it.
Some of the things you can do to
deal with peer pressure include:
●Choose
friends who share your values. Good friends use
positive peer pressure
to help you be your
best self.
●Keep away from situations where
people are doing things you don’t want to do.
●Think about your reasons for doing things.
Are they good reasons? Are you being
true to
yourself and your values?
●Practice ways of
saying no, giving excuses if necessary.
●Talk
to your parents, or other trusted adults, about
the kinds of peer pressure
you face, and
listen to their advice.
●Let the adults know
when you need help to get out of a bad situation,
and don’t
know what to do about it.
Remember that if just one teen stands up to peer
pressure, usually others will join
him or her.
Learning to deal with peer pressure will make you
confident (自信的) and
mature.
63. According
to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A. Peer pressure includes direct and indirect
pressure.
B. Peer pressure comes from smoking,
drinking and using drugs.
C. Teens facing
pressure can’t tell right from wrong.
D. Teens
who face pressure are maturer than those who don’t
64. Teens should learn to deal with peer
pressure mainly because ______.
A. it can lead
them to make serious mistakes
B. it can
influence them even when they’ve grown up
C.
learning to deal with it can help them get along
well with others
D. learning to deal with it
can make them mature and confident
65.
According to the passage, teens should ______.
A. stay away from people who don’t share their
values
B. have good reasons for anything they
do
C. say no more often than yes
D.
ask adults whom they trust for help
66. The
purpose of the passage is to tell us ______.
A. what peer pressure is
B. how to deal with
peer pressure
C. the effects of peer pressure
D. how to get along with peers
D

书面表达(One possible version)
Dear Li Hui,
I received your letter, and
you said that you have some problems in your life.
I am willing
to offer you some advice. I hope
you are able to do better in the future. About the
English
study you have mentioned, it is
recommended that you improve your English by
listening
to English news and reading more
English articles as they are all good methods for
studying foreign languages. As to how to get
along with the classmates, you should
remember
that kindness is very important. I believe that so
long as you are kind, you
will be able to make
friends with all of your classmates. Lastly, I am
told that you
spend a lot of time surfing the
Internet. Although the Internet can be very
helpful in
finding new information, you should
make sure you don’t suffer any of the harmful
effects
of using it. I hope you find these
suggestions useful. I look forward to hearing from
you.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

movie.
They said it was excellent.
M: Paris is a beautiful city.
W: I have
never been there. Have you ever been there, Ken?
M: Yes, I was there in April, but the weather
was awful. It rained all the time.
W: Just
like dear old London!
Text7
W: Hi, Bob!
It’s great to see you here!
M: Hi. I’ve

I like to study in the library, too. If I can be

W: To

says that there will be rain tomorrow.
M: If
the weather forecast is as correct as usual, you

W: I am
still a little worried. We have planned to go on a
picnic tomorrow.
M: Then you may wait and see

W: But we will need

W: Oh, that’s a good idea. I will call
Xiaoming to discuss about it. Bye.
M: Bye.
Text9

return 50 to you, am I
right?
M: Yes, but
you don’t have to give it to me now. I want to
make another reservation.
W: The same room?
Will you be staying with us for one more night?
M: No, not for me. One of my friends will come
to Beijing in three days. I’d like to
book a
single room for him. He will stay here for just
one night.
W: One single room on Friday.
What’s his family name, please?
M: Wang.
W: I got it. I’m afraid if you want to
pay for his room you will need to give me another
100 dollars.
M: No problem. Here you are.

One night, in 1881, a terrible
storm came in. At about 11 p.m., a
was sent to
check the track. After it passed Kate Shelley’s
home, Kate heard a loud
crash. The bridge over
Honey Creek had collapsed, taking the train with
it. The
fifteen-year-old Kate Shelley ran out
into the storm to see what happened. She saw two
of the four men in the train in the water, but
she could not reach them. Kate soon realized
that she could not rescue the men by herself.
What’s worse, she knew a midnight express
train was due to pass over. It would possibly
send more people to their death if she
did not
warn the nearby station of the situation. She
quickly ran to the station and
reached it in
time to stop the express train. As soon as the
express train was safe,
Kate led a rescue
train to where the two men from the pusher train
were, where she saved
them as well. That night
only two lives were lost, thanks to Kate Shelley.
