The main disadvantage of learning 11 months is that it will reduce students learning
efficiency. This is because students will suffer from great pressure if they only have
one month holiday to relax. Take myself as an example, as a freshman in American
international school, I start my day at 8 in the morning and have 8 hours classes such
as social studies, language arts, science and so on. Going back home, I still have to
write
a
lot
of
assignments.
Besides,
we
have
exams
every
two
weeks,
which
also
require a lot of preparation. Luckily, I have 2 months summer holiday and 1 month
winter
holiday
to
travel
or
play
sports
with
my
friends
to
release
my
stress.
If
the
holiday
is
shortened
to
1
month,
I
don’t
know
whether
I
still
can
cope
with
the
stressful school life in the next term or not. Therefore, I believe that 11 months study
will
cause
students
to
be
less
productive
and
their
academic
performance
will
be
affected adversely.

We have to admit the fact that doing assignments daily may help students to improve
academic
results.
However,
concentrating
too
much
on
academic
performance
may
also lead to test-oriented educational system, which does no good to the well-rounded

This
is
because
non-academic

should
also
be
developed
and
therefore
teachers
should
reduce
the
amount
of
homework
and
encourage
students
to
participate
in
social
activities
and
community
services.
For
example,
I
am
involved
in
an
after- school
childcare
program.
The
responsibility
of
volunteer
members
is
to
look
after
children
aged
5
to10
after
they
finish
school.
Sometimes we take them to the library and sometimes to the museum or park. During
the
work,
I
have
learned
how
to
be
patient,
how
to
plan
and
organize,
how
to
cooperate with my coworkers and how to
communicate with others.
If
I have to do
homework
every
day,
it
is
impossible
for
me
to
join
in
such
a
meaningful
job
and
have the opportunity to learn so many practical skills that cannot be learned from the
school and from writing assignments.

to

irrational.
After
all,
students’
primary
concern
is
academic
contribution
of

university.
In
other
words,
they
hope
to
be
taught
by
professors
who
are
reputable

the
academic
circles.
Therefore,
what
universities
should
do
to
attract
potential
highschoolers
is
to
spend
money
hiring
famous scholars and providing training to enhance the overall quality of teaching staff.

is
because
eminent
professors
and
professional
lectures
usually
devote
considerable
time
preparing
their
lessons
so
that
they
are
capable
of
introducing
profound
theories
in
an
understandable
way,
using
software
to
organize
classroom
activities and interact with students directly. Those responsible teachers also promptly
answer
questions
from
students
no
matter
how
complicated
the
questions
are,
patiently
correct
assignments
and
provide
concrete
and
specific
suggestions
for
students.

as

would

up-to-date equipment, which enable them to study cutting edge technology and record
new discoveries. Without that, it is impossible for students to get accurate and precise

are all equipped
with

and laboratories
for
students
to
study
and
do
research
freely
and
that
is
one
of
the
reason
why
outstanding candidates are convinced to apply these universities.

from basis living expenses such as clothing, food, accommodation and transportation,
most adults need to pay back home loans. Also, the elders in the family have to be
taken good care of and quality medical service is costly. Furthermore,
students’
tuition
is higher than it was before, because schools tend to change more for the upgraded
facilities and hiring professional teachers. Moreover, a majority of students choose to
study overseas, which means parents have to pay much more expensive school fees
and other living costs. For example, my brother Tom is studying in Yale University in
the United States. His tuition is 50,000 dollars every year and accommodation, food,
and
transport
cost
another
12,000
dollars,
which
absolutely
lays
a
heavy
financial
burden on my
aunt
and uncle. Therefore, it seems
that
only those who choose high
pay jobs instead of low pay jobs can better look after families.

It is true that we frequently see people actively participate in community service and

return.
It
seems
that
their

is
to
receive public recognition instead of money. However, I wonder what would be their
ultimate goal. For most of individuals, working for public recognition, they probably

show
their
talents
and
strength
to
those
reputable
people,
or
associate
with
some
influential
celebrities,
so
that
they
are
likely
to
have
more
chances
to
advance their career. With respect to business people, we also witness some of them
donate considerable money to support charities. What would they benefit from doing
so? I guess one of the answers is the enhancement of their brand name. Gaining trust
from the customers and clients, their businesses are prone to increase sales and make
more profits. Another benefit is that the companies which contribute a large sum of
money to support the underprivileged
people would have high possibility to get tax

exemption
from
the
government,
which
would
again
lead
to
increase
of
net
profit.
Therefore, I doubt whether there is pure altruism.

the
development

the
society,
the
pressure
on
adults
is
much
heavier
than
before.
They
have
to
work
diligently
to
keep
their
position
so
that
they
can
earn
money and support their families. For example, my mother is a science teacher in high
school. As a teacher, preparing class is an important work, otherwise, her students will
not focus on what she says.
After class, she has to answer students’ questions patiently
and review their assignments. As we all know, highschoolers are intelligent and full of
curiosity. They gain variety of information from different Medias such as Wikipedia
and Discovery channel, so my mum has to expand her knowledge by reading much
more reference work and enrich her teaching materials

in order to advance career and compete with younger colleagues, she attends a lot of
trainings such as how to use PPT to present her class, how to use computer software

organize
classroom
activities.
Otherwise,

is
impossible
for
her

. As a result, she always feels exhausted
after a long work day. As a matter of fact, my mum is not an exception. Most working
adults are experiencing the same stress in the work place. Due to this reason, some of
them may even suffer from psychological disorder like depression and insomnia.

It
is
participating
in
sports
activities

enables
us
to
learn
from
failure,
which
is
very
necessary

meaningful.
During
the
period
of
playing
sports,
it
is

common to win or lose. Although winning pleases us, we should not lose optimism
even
if
facing
failure.
For
example,
last
year,
our
school
basketball
team
had
a
competition with St John boy’s high, because of our careles
s, we lost. After the game,
our coach reviewed the game video with us so that we found a lot of weakness in our
strategy.
Thanks
to
the
analysis
and
advice
from
our
coach,
we
finally
figure
out
solutions
to
deal
with
the
unique
strategy
of
our
competitors.
In
the
following
6
months,
our
coach
spared
no
efforts
to
train
the
team
members
and
helped
us
to
upgrade
defending
skills.
Fortunately,
we
won
the
game
this
semester.
In
fact,
we
encounter
with
difficulties
in
daily
life
all
the
time.
When
facing
pressure
and
misunderstandings, we should not feel frustrated and pessimistic. Instead, failure is a
